Strong Headwind to left shoulder. Field race stands' side Typical ARoad run, broke 1st & 1 length clear. Cross to rail & set a more controlled pace with no pressure from others. 1st 3 after 50yds were the 3 on STO. Out The Ring & Trade Secret made no effort to press ARoad. 4th early was Lees Anthem on the rail and much deeper & well grown than his breeding promised. Bigger than the compact, early 2yo type, ARoad. No obvious promise from most others with inexperience and early fades. The pace in the conditions enough to spread the field out by ability. Drumpellier ran ok at a low level to suggest seller promise. OTRing faded & hung left before the last 1f. Trade Secret ran a similar race to Doncaster being around 2L behind ARoad at halfway & losing a length as the leader hung L&R final 1f (Jk said 'idling'). LAnthem challenged ARoad to the final 1f and hung a little left to follow him. Jk correct with whip and move back to rail. The horse changed his lead leg soon after and got unbalanced and leant into the rail. Next stride didn't recover the balance and the horse responded to the over-balance to the right by trying to stop and clear the rail. Prob a 'Speed Wobble' by a 2yo not used to going hard for 4.5F on turf in a stiff headwind. |
