Stronger Division on Profile with two solid STO runners. But, run in 1.19s slower than second division and smaller types in 2nd & 3rd having both looked green before or during the race. The shape of the Halfway positions versus the final placings perhaps suggest a stronger pace in this Division and a slow finishing section causing the slow overall time? Field in two banks of three at halfway with PW & Saltergate (whipped or driven through most of race) adrift . MT win and only one of leading Lo3 at halfway to finish race off with other pair in last 3. 3rd came from being adrift and looked to be plugging on to stallers and faders. Saltergate small and unpromising but relaed to a lot of minor winners so perhaps a seller type. A race to treat with caution and would not expect the 2nd & 3rd to be strong candidates NTO depending on the grade of race and more ones to oppose. MT again show willing attitude and never stopped so can rate higher. Daas Rite still look green and lose ground at start again and never travelling that smoothly. Got to 3rd inside last 1f after a bump but unbalanced and already stalling. Perhaps a short runner and need faster 5f but along with MT suggest Southwell early April maidens may be over-rated. Glenns Princess outpaced before plugging on and just an ok debut at a low rating. DC biggest and get to pressing 3rd in leading line from widest draw. Seemed to be going ok 2F out but stalling by 1.5F out and bump towards last 1F finished him off. CD another competent debut for trainer who has never had a 2yo winner but several FTO places. Too small and ran too freely to add to that record. PW lent on side of stall for minutes while waiting for others to load. Jockey never sorted this out and, hugely predictably, she started slowly taking a fair bit of time to get upright after unglueing herself from the side panel. |
