Light shower before racing. Reports say more worried about making Firm surface greasy and slippery rather than making any difference to the Firm (unwatered at Bath) going. Strong pace with TBM & Barking hooked up from early and pressing on. LEx within 1 length at halfway and RGrey 2L off lead and settled. Alfraamsey around 10L off lead at halfway. RGrey another Rod Millman trained to snap together STO after a lost debut when he used to be a Ready FTO trainer up to early 2006. RGrey another winner from the maiden run at Ffos Las & behind Bathwick Bear and well beaten on debut in relatively tough maiden by this season's standards. RGrey bigger than TBM and also Barking who looked only a little larger than the notably small TBM. Probably reasonable to compare the race to the Fillies' maiden won by Chicita Banana here in 2009. That was a moderate event and won in 63.51s on GGF going with that one carrying 2lbs more than RGrey. That winner ended season rated OR69 and tiny filly True Red (Rod Millman STO) was second and is still a maiden and rated OR50ish. RGrey look better quality than True Red but perhaps OR60s in the long run. |
