Rain in previous days following a long dry spell. Apparently slower going but a faster time. Partly because ground loose on top and horses going through to a firmer base. But mostly because of a Gale as a Straight tailwind in the stright. Picture - of the finish. Interesting 'Market' with Barista supported on second run for new stable and Ryan Moore booked. Liberty Ess first run for new stable (noted for gambles and 'shrewdness') and Hanagan aboard. LE run too free early and hanging right in later race and more competent Barista able to get past for the win. RA biggest in group but surely not a 5f filly. Has looked to lack pace for real 5f last two runs and plugging on to the finish. MR a newcomer for Ron Harris and a solid size in context and fit enough. But, trainer has notably poor record with debuts and this season is the first he has produced a 2yo winner that he trained from the start of the year (claimed horses souped up for sprinting in later season his style in previous years with Glamorous Spirit the biggest success). Three of his precious, attempted, debuts this year have panicked int he stalls and taken out. MR a similar fizzy and wired attitude and gave a lot of trouble loading into the stalls. Unable to pick up early and hanging right from the start. |
