Race set up for closers with a brisk pace for the class on holding ground that had been Heavy (waterlogged) on decs day and still SGS here. Jockeys on MTU & MD produce a poor bit of work by hooking up towards 3f out, heading the leader and kicking the later race efforts off. Suicide on GF on a flat track. Brainless on this going up a hill. Efforts of first two and adrift closers should take this into account.
Result of race would not discourage someone with idea that the new sire Diamond Green has produced a few too many bigger lads with a bit of attitude. Ok to look at but not really delivering until developing with runs and win on later outings. This winner the second to iron out a Seller field after looking less than enthusiastic in maidens. Runner up by the same sire but not the bulkier build type but in cheekpieces on his second run so presumably another with some of his own ideas. Winner here not look willing th halfway but dropping back off pace proved useful witht he way the race developed..
Pair chased home by a bunch of seller rabbit fillies inclduing Little Libretto whom the winner was well beaten by in the Brocklesby. Comparing their careers a fruitful exercise in understanding trainers, sires and horse builds and size. Some interest in Ivanov as an ok type in context and got back into the ruck after flopping around off the back for much of the race. Ought to be something in there if he ever wises up.
