Mark Of Esteem

- Owned by Sheikh Mohammed and trained by H. Cecil at 2yo before transferring to Godolphin at 3yo. Won four races from 7f to 8f between 2yo to 3yo. At 2yo finished second on debut on July 11th in a 7f maiden (to champion 2yo
Alhaarth) then successful in a 7f maiden on July 28th. At 3yo won two 8f Group 1 races including the 2000 Guineas.
- To stud in 1997 and a solid record with two Group 1 winners in Ameerat (1000 Guineas) and Sir Percy (7f 2yo in 2005). A variable record with his British raced 2yos and slightly
below average given his opportunities at stud. Below average winners to runners in four of his six seasons but solid results in 2002 and, with a notably bigger group, in 2005. Gets winners at 6f to 7f from June onwards but tends not to get precocious types. Has only ever had one 5f win in 6 seasons (by Redback in 2001 who proved best at 7f). Overall quality of 2yo winners tends to be at good maiden level at best and Sir Percy's 7f Group wins in 2005 and Redback's 7f Group win are exceptions.
- 30 yearlings sold in 2005 for an average around 20,000gns. 26 in 2006 for a similar average. Taken out of servive indefinitely at the end of 2006 due to fertility problems (had a testicle removed following colic surgery in 2004). Covered 90 mares in 2006 at Darley's Dalham Hall (£12,000 fee) following a full southern hemisphere covering season in Brazil.
- 2005 to 2009 Winners List.
