SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race.

Rain previous day with no details given. Going now GGS having been GF on declaration day, Going Stick 7.1 reading. Stalls Stands' Side. Medium Breeze as a Crosswind from the left.

Michael Bell on his Website news for May 25th = "The next group was made up of four fillies and it was certainly Lana who caught the eye. She has been shaping up nicely and has been entered at Leicester on Tuesday."

Richard Hannon on his website wrt Midas Medusa = "..She will be sharper for her debut at Newmarket, where everything went wrong, .."

Meloneras able to get to the lead comfortably on the Stands' Rail and the jockey able to control the race and play with the pace. Slowed in once in the lead and some bouts of pulling and free-running from some of the others on the downhill section. Seemed to turn the race into a 2F sprint with little change in positions and the fillies struggling to separate themselves. Meloneras duelled with Midas Medusa for the last 2F never more than a neck between them. Nagham just in behind then when the sprint started and took the whole 2F to get the 1L+ back on the leading pair. Although the time looked ok a niggle overall over the race rating with so many fillies close up and so little change in the last 2f. 150/1 Caledonia Lady a second prominent debut for Pat Murphy who does get his odd 2yos very fit and ready so the type to make the best of herself here and perhaps not progress. 150/1 not a proper reflection of relative ability.

Nagham another FTO win for trainer Ryan in an unusually good year. Jockey Craine riding with Makin on a winning FTO 2yo at RDCR. Went on-and-on about having hit the filly too many times with the whip to win so presumably is going to get a Bollocking from Ryan unless the win makes it worthwhile. The win means that the last three debuts for the trainer at the course have won and in general seems to use the course for some of his better types in recent years. Although the win here not suggesting a really better type and perhaps some sor tof OR80s.

Alabanda started from same position as winner in the sprint but unable to find a gap between the leading pair near the rail or might have got into the Photo and eased late. Sanders back on Toffeee Tart but a mulish performance and nver going forward and niggled and driven along for most of the race. Never fading but not getting involved. More typical sort of development for a John Hills 2yo after some early wins. Form of the ASCT race she placed in FTO suspect. Trainer Becket should be starting out one of his better fillies in early June and it might win FTO. Royal Red perhaps the type for that but Crowley not riding it and Sanders neither. Travelled ok and looked like she might compete ok in the spring until getting unbalanced. Dine Out first 2yo runner of season and first 1-3 usually competitive at some level if only placers. small but never realyl asked to get into the race after a slow start.
