GF going with watering as 6mm Thu, 8mm Fri, 6mm on each of Sat/Sun/Mon. Going Stick at 8.7 at 6:30. Stalls Stands' Side. Medium Breeze as a Direct Tailwind. Field raced Centre track. Race run in 0.33s slower than Maiden with Pint Size carrying 5lbs less than that winner. Showers at times in between the two races (2hrs & 10mins apart) and this field kicking up small divots as if stripping a thin slice off the firmer base. This race different to the Maiden which appeared to have an average pace and a 2F out effort. Typical bit of Nicholls trainer & jockey here with a front-running ride from a very fit runner. Pinged the gates and 1.5L clear for free then set a stiff pace which meant none of the other runners could get settled into the race. Most of the others driven along before halfway or soon after. Poor efforts from those behind seemed partly fading more than normal trying to chase a pace that they couldn't sustain efficiently. Presume this is right at the top end of what Pint Size can do given his lack of scope. Grim fascination with Latte who looked too slow for this and never quite fully faded and just kept plugging on. Does he actually need further as his dam side might suggest. Perhaps he is just as moderate as the rest of his siblings, as another possibility... If the interevening showers had softened the ground enough to make this a better effort by Pint Size then the filly that beat him at EDIN must have a solid chance in the Rous seller on Friday?
