SUMMARY
£10k Bonus Race

GSG at 9:33am but already had 5mm of rain by then and rain still falling. No Going Stick recorded at 9:30am. Persistent rain from early morning and getting heavier through the meeting. .No note of Going changes through the meeting but there must have been some. Stiff to Strong Breeze as a One-Quarter Tailwind from the left.

Hannon on his website = "Similarly, we don't know how well newcomer Harbour Watch, an Acclamation colt, will handle any change in the ground in the two-year-old race. The boss said: "Peter Doyle bought Harbour Watch for 58,000gns at Tattersalls last December, but for some reason when we got him home the weight just fell off him. However, he has thrived since the spring and is working really well. He looked particularly good on the gallops on Wednesday morning and, hopefully, he might be another good one for Robin Heffer, who is part-owner in Canford Cliffs."

Meehan on his website wrt The Blue Banana = "has been shaping well on the gallops. Might possibly need this first run."

Field raced stands' side.

Hannon interviewed afterwards and said Harbour Watch one of their better ones but had been unsure how he would handle the track. He had been thought of as a possible for the Royal Ascot tem but had presumably not been quite ready. He is now thought of in the next plan for one of the 'Better' ones which is to go to the Newmarket July Meeting.

Analysis for race show mismatch between trainer Candy's actual record and perception. The only winners he has had before August (leak the odd late July one in 'Aug') since 2005 have been Better class types able to win (or shold have on debut). This takes in Amour Propre (Group winning 2yo and unexplained flop on debut) & Dark Mischief (FTO winner & & rated OR90+ as older horse) in 2008, Dorback (FTO winner & OR90+ rated as older horse) in 2009 and Dinkum Diamond (FTO & Listed winner by end May in 2010 and the 'only 2yo' he had in full work at that point so he was working with older horses.). Other earlier starters have included non-winners and development winners and only up to 4 winners each year.. AP not look a better one here.
