For 2yos by sires with a 2010 sales median of £15k or under. GFG produced by watering with 6mm applied on each day of Wed-Sat preceding meeting. 9mm of rain on Saturday & Sunday. Going Stick at 9.1 having been 9.6 on April 18th (FGF). Stiff, gusty wind on the day as a direct Tailwind. Stalls on Stands' rail. Field raced Centre to Stands' side. Bannock able to set an average pace, at most, then wind the paceup towards 2f out to get some separation. Going well enough to enable his jockey to delay asking for the final effort until towards the last 1f. Others left behind as a group and need an excuse to be better than moderate with OR60s filly Arcticality able to plug on into a remote 2nd. Bannock a better type who can go higher and quite a taking effort to pull clear to 1f out. No interest in Arcticality who is a nursery project but with so many soft northern races and reliable trainer will win something. Neil's Pride small and poor. A bit mor einterest in the Midgley pair on size grounds. MFFun on STO and perhaps ran close to what she can do which is limited. But Phoenix Clubs more interesting. Probably the tallest in the field, not neatly made and a bit gawky. Went ok with the pace until getting unbalanced 2f out and losing ground and he wandered around (not carrying his size?) but an ok response, in the context of the low level, to close up in the last 1f. Not collapsing but rolling on again. Out of a dam who has put some zip into some cheap ones including Riverdale last year who cost £8k and has been sold for a lot more to go to HK. Worth checking STO. Minot interest in Johnson's Galilee Chapel as well at a low level. Went like the second best horse int he race until a late fade hid that promise. Smaller, but ok build, type of a FSS who was small, bulky chap. Might be OR60s usable. |
