SUMMARY
£10k Yearling Bonus race. Stalls Stands Rail and course at FULL WIDTH. Windsor classified as a RH course so Draws have changed over. Stall 1 is now next to the Stands' rail and 11 towards centre track. Stiff breeze on day but mostly a crosswind from the left. But, a fast time and going firmer after a longish period of dry weather overall. Class 4 Handicap later in afternoon (5th race) won in 58.08s by OR72 5yo mare.

Now we're getting somewhere, a serious race and good first 4. A lot of big lads going for it after the Comedy £10k race at Kempton 2 days before. Hannon has used this race to start good types Zebedee (Listed quality nippy 2yo in the full view) & Bonnie Charlie in recent years and his rep here supposed to be another. Barry Hills typical start to the season is an odd runner in the Brocklesby then run some good ones at the Craven meeting in mid-April (like Dark Angel the sire of his rep here who looks like the sire to a good degree). In 2009 he changed that and ran the real Group class Red Jazz for a taking win here FTO. So another good one to be expected with Sea Odyssey. The stiff pace softens up SO after he travels well, LOTS is green and not really seeing the last 1f out and running like a typical Hannon debut rather than the peculiar early blast in 2010. Which meant that Paul Cole's Silverheels is able to come through to run away from that pair late. But no fluke in that and looked a bigger type and a serious prospect for the future. How does Cole manage to arrange for his better debut winners to be in the 6/1 to 8/1 range so often? The fact that this one opened at 9/2 and was still 6/1 against two touted opponents a good sign the stable knew Silverheels is better class. Also managed to win despite being green and giving some trouble loading. Then hung left to centre track after breaking from a wide stall and lost 2L. Jockey having to get serious with him to get him going to join the group. Finished notably strongly having finally got the message in the last 1f and proved hard to pull up on the bend. Looking like the way Rimth finished her race off when winning on debut for the trainer at the course in 2010 after a green first half of the race.

[UPDATE = Barry Hills on his website before this race = "We start with a nice son of Dark Angel, Sea Odyssey, in the two year old race. He has been going well at home, but until the first few two year olds have run you are never sure where you are with them. It will be interesting to see how he gets on in a race Red Jazz won a couple of years ago" & AFTER the race = "Our first two year old runner Sea Odyssey performed well at Windsor. He hit the gates running and was always doing a bit too much and not surprisingly got tired. It was probably a good race and he will take plenty of beating next time out." ]
