SUMMARY
GFF from GF in the morning by race time. GF with 6 places in last 4f from GGF 2 days prior. Some watering of 5mm on Sun. Going Stick reading from 07:00am.

22 Dec C with Medium to Stiff Westerly Wind = Crosswind from the Right.

Trainer Duffield's blog the next day = "Yorkshire Icon ran a blinder on his second attempt at competing on sports day to finish third. Green and backward in the early stages he stayed on strongly to finish a promising third and was certainly the one to take out of the race. A slow learner naturally, he will keep on improving."

Liber medium sized but lengthy and a good mover with it. Enough depth and strength in front. Got a comfortable lead and took time to get rid of the second but a strong finish as if further would be better. Took a long time to get going over a faster 5f on debut. Still in the Woodcote Stakes 6 days after this over 6f. Presumably better type than the debut in a muddling race FTO suggested. Lsited level looks a big step from this but Novice win should be comfortable for Prescott to find.

Pastoral Prey a smaller and below Open Maiden level, low OR60s probably, but another positive for his trainer. He has run 3 this season who cost between £2,200 to £3,500 for 1 x FTO win and 2 x STO places in maidens. Psoitive for the trainer's ability to prepare them at home and get the best out of them in early season. Watching the rest of the field behind PP flopping around in various ways while this little one chased the favourite as hard has he could would make you wonder what the trainer could do with better spending power.

3rd & 4th home both noted as ones to track for improvement from the auction race they ran in FTO to see whether delving into the ruck of that field worthwhile. Yorkshire Icon still clueless and took a long time to get going but a strong enough finish to think he can win at 6f+ around OR70 when he purs a competent race together.

Rat Catcher flashy and moves ok but does not look straightforward. It might be grenness or feeling the ground but a bit too much running with his head up and taking time to respond to the jockey. Some mild Market support and ought to be better than he has shown but perhaps needs to grow up and iron his attitude out.

Angel Grigio taller type and carried herself ok. Fizzy and on toes in the prelims and lead around by the trainer. Had a stable lad AP to take charge of her. Took off with the jockey at two different points in the race after a slow start. Underperformed because of the fizziness and free-running. Definite OR70 when if settles down.
