Track reporting "deep harrowing to 100mm (4'') to replenish surface. It will be returned to Standard by meeting Start". Also reporting watering of the surface. How will this affect times with recent ones including some very fast ones? Light to Medium WSW Wind = Crosswind from Right in Back Straight, Part Headwind around the Bend, Crosswind from Left in Home Straight. Slow Time but worth noting 5 of the slowest 6 times in 2010-11 were through June. Other one by a poor OR55 nursery winner in September. Suggests the track work is an annual feature and slow times after the work. 3yo handicap on card won by OR61 (4L) in 73.9 carrying 3lbs more than this winner. Sharaarah smaller and ready type. Not appear to have much scope and more a Nursery type after trying Novice+ race rather than a better type like her dam & Burwaaz. New Falcon had the advantage of the rail run and setting a usable pace. Overhauled by Sharaarah at NMKT on debut and the same here and again not seeing the 6f out. Like Sharaarah out of a Listed winner dam who produces all sorts of quality in her foals. New Falcon slightly below average scope and might end up a placer. Not one to follow as vulnerable to solid newcomers and not seeing 6f out at present. Much more interest in Something Magic who ran a very good debut by trainer standards. A bigger type in the field and not looking that mature or developed. Ran green at times and got behind in a slower run race. Given all that a good effort in the last 1.5F and still going forward a bit at the finish. Ought to be Open Maiden winner level and seems to have scope to develop physically, in condition and over further. Pira Palace a smaller lengthy one by the sire and looks just ok for Open Maiden level without going much further. Given the standard Education Intro by Moore and the jockey happy to trundle home HnH in 3rd until Something Magic's effort meant he had to do a bit more. Peak STO for a maiden try Novice+ level but not a strong prospect on what she showed here. More of the same from Poetic Princess in being a smaller, low OR60s, type that helps to put the form into perspective. Ran a bit too free and wide all around the bend so not an easy trip. But, typically a bit outpaced by the efforts before a bit of plugging on at her one pace. Seemed to actually fade late so has a limit to the trundling. Nurseries and what OR might she get - OR68-72 perhaps and that a bit too high and she lacks scope to improve physically. Travel smaller to medium but young mentally. Veered left from the widest stall away fromt he others and then took time to get going so well adrift. Jockey using the Whip at various points from early on to get her to attend and respond. Produced some response to get into the group and looking like she might plug on to near 5th if she continue here run in the last 0.5f. Faded back to 7th instead. Borderline for Open Maiden level when she grows up enough to run competently. More general interest in Melodee Princess who is a much bigger filly who ought to be better than she has shown. Ran a bit free early and ended up running wide around the bend and hanging a bit wider. Again travelled quite well through mid race. But, as at ASCT, the response in the last 2F was disappointing and not matching how she travelled. She seemed to move awkwardly before 1F out and looked a bit 'Ouchy' in the last 1f. But, an interesting prospect as a bigger type who travels well. If the 'something' that has stopping her picking up in the last 2f gets fixed she can clearly rate much higher and surprise at a value price. The fact she is with a trainer who often takes time to develop his 2yos then gets the winners to hint seams of good form later would help the track-her-for-a-surprise-win model. |
