SUMMARY
GS from S two days prior. Warmer and drying conditions through day forecast. Going Stick reading from 08:00am as 8.1 on either Side and, a faster, 8.3 Centre Track. Light to Medium SW Wind = Three-Quarter Headwind from the Left.

Hannon on his Website = "It was a toss of coin as to whether we ran Sir Prancealot here or waited for the Norfolk, but Andrew (Tinkler) was keen to go on the first day and that is fine by me. Some people seem to think that he was a bit flattered by his National Stakes victory at Sandown, but, believe me, he is a serious horse. He has unbelievable speed, but he is by Tamazuz [sic], so we know that he is not just a whizz-bang sprinter, and, while we don't know yet what effect the draw will have, two off the stands rail is not a bad place to be and will, hopefully, enable Hughesie to get a good early position. The others are all making a giant leap from winning their maidens, but we like all three. The Taj, who has the stands rail draw in stall 23, did a brilliant piece of work with Olympic Glory a few days before both made their debuts, so it was no surprise when they both won. I know the form of The Taj's Doncaster race has taken a few knocks, but he will have learned a lot from that and Paul Hanagan was very impressed. Similarly, Olympic Glory, who is also drawn high (16), won many over when winning at Goodwood, and, while we did think about waiting a bit longer with him, Julie (Wood) loves to have runners here, and this is a smashing big Choisir colt who deserves his place in the field. Last but not least there is Master of War, who is drawn on the other side in stall one. He won well up at Haydock, and, though we were thinking of taking him to Chepstow or Bath last week, he then did an impressive bit of work at Herridge and we immediately abandoned those plans and upgraded him to the Ascot team"

Trainer Zarooni quoted on the Godolphin website = "I like Artigiano and I think that he will run a good race. We would have preferred to run him over seven furlongs in the Chesham Stakes but he is not qualified for that race, so we had no option but to go for the Coventry Stakes"

Trainer Hills on his website = "Englishman and Funk Soul Brother. The both won good maidens whose form is working out well, and we can't really split them. They have never worked together at home either. It was a tough decision for Michael to pick between the two, and we are pleased Darryll Holland is riding Funk Soul Brother as he partnered him in his first ever bit of work and loved him then."

Meehan's website = "It’s a big step from being placed in a maiden to the Coventry Stakes, but after his excellent third on debut at Newmarket, King Dragon is sure to improve greatly. He has always shown plenty of ability at home and we expect a good performance."

Noseda quoted on his website news = "Whitfield runs in the Coventry. It is a very tough ask for him and ideally he would have liked quicker ground."

O'Brien jockeys = Cristoforo Columbo (JP O'Brien) & Lines Of Battle (Moore).
