SUMMARY
GS for Meeting Start. S as it had been 2 days before. 26mm of rain in previous 72 hours including 5mm overnight. Going Stick reading = 17:00pm. Light N to NNE wind = Crosswind from left to Quarter Headwind.

Low Quality Auction race and affected by a Rail Bias. Also affected by probably the sloppiest group of starts by a field this season. To the extent you wonder whether the Starter told the jockeys the last one was coming in and he was about to let them go. Horses and jockeys looking all over the place when the stalls opened. Prominent line not getting home with Sleepy Haven doing best of the L-of-3 through Halfway as the rail runner. Race won by the best of the 2R who moved forward as the pace line folded. 3rd-7th made up of a group of 'Closers' plus Sleepy Haven and you feel the Closers were of suspect value given the race quality and the way the race played out.

Trainer Duffield regularly profitable to follow with FTOs through mid-season and on recent years template was due a strong FTO effort. Lady Moonlight a positive on the pictures on the trainer website and a shorter one with length and well built. Not 'tuned' to win here but competent enough to start bettert han average in a sloppy filed and run along in 2R on the Rail. When the field started hanging left away from the rail as they tired, as always here, she was left with just having to plug on down the rail to win. Can rate higher but presumably below Open maiden level.

Penny Garcia deserves to be marked up because she ran away from the rail for most of the race and produced an effort that got to the lead and 1-5L clear into the final 1F. Caught by the rail runner as she faded late but a good effort against the bias int he context of this race. Look back to her previous two races and she has run into two very tough Northern races and finished midfield but probably not far behind the Changeover Point in both races. Dropped to a weak race here without the better types to drop her back to midfiled and a prominent finihs. Usable OR60s .

Teetotal NPIR on debut and jockey seemed to want a nice quiet and invisible run here. Ended up getting to 3rd by running the rail and finding everything else hanging left and fading in the last 2f. Smaller type and nursery to seller level and this 3rd a bit bogus but clearly he has also not been put in a race yet.

OOTBlocks a sloppy start and got well behind and able to make ground running near the rail but not achieving much in ratings terms. Suspect professionalism & attititude and can't trust what you get from him even at his low level.

Garmelow Girl green and another to make suspect places by plugging on down the rail past faders. See how she goes NTO. Might be the odd low level winner in behind the first 2 home and Dr Phibes ought to be a candidate on circumstantials. Early runner for a reliable trainer who peaks STO and has already had a STO win with his first runner of the season. DrP OR60s physical type but mentally very young and unfocussed. Sweating and fizzed up AP and generally well away from being a 'racehorse' yet mentally. Very slow break and needing to be chivvied along throughout as his pre-race demeanour and cluelessness would suggest. Perhaps a lesser one the trainer is struggling to get to grow up but clearly one to check STO for how he presents in mental readiness terms. Has he 'grown up'?
