SUMMARY
No Going Stick info recorded by the course.

Second year as a Maiden Fillies and thin group in 2011 with ok STO winner but Hannon & Millman Season Placers in 2nd & 3rd. Only subsequent winners a typical DH Jones low level Nursery winner in 4th & a moderate Auction winning filly in the ruck. Similar moderate Profile to this race with a Hannon 3TO as the favourite despite having moderate form, below Open Maiden level and not really looking like a 6f type on pedigree. Which meant a race open to a newcomer to win even if they were below Open Maiden level. Race run at an average pace and played out in a sensible manner. Leading Pair through halfway formed up early and always the leaders. Only change between them as the leader faded late allowing the plugging on 2nd to finally catch up. These two chased by a bank of three lesser fillies in 3rd-5th through halfway and these three faded away. Which enabled anything from the 4 who were behind at halfway for various reasons to be able to make places just by plugging on without ever threatening the first two or being really involved in the race.

Trainer Beckett has produced profits with FTOs between Jun-Aug in 6 of the last 7 seasons and generally has a good FTO record. SPs have been getting shorter over the years in a slow process. This the sort of weaker race set-up where anything usable he runs would have a chance on debut. Redressthebalance a Tattersalls Breeze-Up purchase and cheap for that sale. Vidoe of breeze showed a smaller medium one but ok srong and doing a balanced and ok moving breeze though not finishing the breeze off. Just average size in this field but competent which meant she was able to get into the front pair as they set a usable pace. So-so effort at 2F out and losing 1L to the leader. Only won by plugging on and finding the leader fading back to her late on. Not really stretching out either here as she had done at the sales. Perhaps lower OR70s and see what OR she gets. Did see the full 5.7f out here and perhps a little more effort if she stretched properly.

Strong debuts by Hollinshead 2yos in early batches a regular occurence despite the fact he has only had one FTO win since the start of the 2004 season. 9 others have placed FTO in that period and they can be at any SP as the Market has no clue about his runners. 14/1 actually a long SP in this moderate race. But, only 5 of those debut placers have gone on to juvenile wins and he often has his 2yos fit and ready FTO and then lack progression. Smart Daisy K would have had a very usable sprint 2yo pedigree in 2006-7 but the dam's produce quality has tailed off noticeably after a good start. But, SDK a little bigger and better built than RTBalance and an earlyish debut an ok sign. Able to get to the lead from the outside draw with minimum effort and set a usable pace. Solid kick at the level at 2F and 1.5L clear well into the last 1f. Would have won but for a late fade. Ok lower OR70s one perhaps but would need a similar lower level Maiden to be able to actually win and how much progression does she have? Did not go to the sales so Auction races are out.

Cio Cio San now beaten as favourite twice after a suspect place in a duff race FTO. Market taking Hannon a bit too seriously in this case and the sort of 'Favourite' who is vulnerable to anything usable. CCS also has a non-6f pedigree. Odd run here in that she raced with the head up a lot and appeared to part pack it in early and lost ground and not responding to the jockey. Running as if she was feeling something. Finally got going in the last 1f to stay on a bit but still not looking that thrilled with being a racehorse. Presumably will go up in trip and to nurseries and find her level to win if whatever was pinching her here gets fixed.

Silver Arny a small one that did best of the 2R through halfway but after getting outpaced and just plugging on slowly. Perhaps not even OR60s. Spray Tan the 'biggest' in that 2R and able to go the pace a bit longer then fading to end up behind SArny. Presumably go back to 5f and try soem weak nurseries of OR50s. Pearl Of Phoenix another small one in that 2R and seemed to add an unwilling attitude to the lack of umph to do worst of the '2R three'.

Our Golden Girl very green and not really going forward throughout. Probably limited and a bit small but check how she develops NTO if more knowing.

Kunzea another small one and a 'scared rabbit' type who jumps backwards and loses ground at the first hint of 'trouble'. Gallop VT on Channon website shoes here working with Michael's Song (2 x moderate runs so far) and a bigger Exceed & Excel filly. Kunzea the smallest of the three and always looking at the other horses and hea dup and pulling back as a couple rolled towards her. Similar here and got behind because soem of the others looked at her the wrong way and ende dup well back. Trundling through late to make a few places but through some moderate to poor and tired ones. Limited type and not one one to follow. If looking for something to take an interest in for the future from this race then the ExEx filly in the Channon gallop pehaps the one. White Blaze on forehead and perhaps Bint Youmzain.

Katy Spirit sold at the same breeze-up sales as the winner and for half as much again. Her Breeze VT shows a really small one starting off disorganised but then doing a reasonable breeze but size limited. Left the impression the price she fetched owed a lot more to her pedigree than her physical presence. Perhaps bought as a broodmare prospect and the trainer's job is to win 'anything' with her before packing her off to stud. Unusual for trainer to have this type of breeze-up runner. Broke ok then bucked and unbalanced the jockey at the start. Then got hauled to the rear by the jockey and never looking that willing or responding well after. But always looking a bit small. Hmmm.
