HVS from SHV two days prior. 4mm of rain in previous 24hrs and showers forecast for the day. Going Stick reading = 12:15pm Medium to Stiff Northerly Wind = Mostly Crosswind from the Right. Fahey's Sporting Life Blog = "Woodland Mill is a very tough filly and ran well the other day but I'm a little bit worried whether she has enough speed for this, though she will come home under a light weight. Jubilee Games surprised us a little bit and has done well to win two in a row. His work isn't as good as his form on the track and he also has a chance off a low weight. Tatlisu has been gelded since his last run and he's been very disappointing as we think he's a nice horse. I've stuck a visor on him so hopefully that will make him concentrate. Of the three on homework, Tatlisu would be five or six lengths clear but the other two know how to win and run well. This is what I call a lottery race as you need a lot of luck in running so we'll see what happens." Hannon's website = "Lyric Ace worked brilliantly on Wednesday morning and looks right back to form. He was impressive when winning at Kempton and Leicester, but he did not fire in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and it was no surprise when he came back with a bad scope. We have freshened him up, and judged by the sparkle he is showing at home we have got him back, and, while not everyone likes the one draw in this race, we won it from that stall with both If Paradise and Lady Livius, so it might be a lucky omen. We also run Ceelo, who is drawn high in 15. He showed promise first time out behind Smoothtalkingrascal, who was beaten only three lengths in both the Windsor Castle and the July Stakes, and our fellow will have come on since then." Slow Time and only two slower at the distance since start 2004 season. Those 66.76 & 66.95 in slowly run early season races on Good Goimng in early season in 2005 & 2006 and those slow times due to very slow paces rather than good horses going for it on Slow Ground. Slowest time by good horse on Soft going was 63.7s in 2008 by Group winner Madame Trop Vite ion Soft int he St Hughs. Field raced Wide spread and could try classifying three separate Groups. Satsuma & Lyric Ace went across to far rail and race in a pair together. They appeared to be in the lead from early so had the advantage of a pace bias. Small group of 5-6 in Centre track although not that far wide of the main Group who were on the Stands-Centre strip. Leading trio mostly pressing on and behind the Far Rail pair but ahead of the Main Group. Two tha did best from this Group did so in different ways. Liber did best of the pressing line in Centre track and again produced a strong effort inthe last 2F but then fading late and not getting home over the extended 5f on Heavy. Had run similarly at Royal Ascot and seems to have a strong kick which should make him competitive to win a better class race in the right set-up. Top Boy has been running too freely and been trying to settle him. Held well back here and did his Deep Closing in Centre Track. Centre to Stands' side group, 14 of them seemed to get behind the other Group with the exception of Body & Soul who led that Group. She was able to make enough of an effort to be clear of that side into the last 1F and challenging the best of those wide. Notable efforts then from Momalorka & Madam Mojito who had got well behind on the Centre to Stands' side strip. Momalorka produced a strong extended finish in the last 2F to make ground in centre track and pass most of the field to almost force a Photo at the finish with BAS & Satsuma. Madam Mojito made simlar progress to Momalorka for 1F+ inside the last 2Fout but on the strip near the Stands' rail. Lesser effort than Momalorka in the last 0.5f+ by MMojito but still picking off faders right to the line. |
