SGS from S two days prior. 3mm of rain on Sat. Going Stick reading from 10:30am. Medium SW Wind = ??. Trainer Osborne finally getting going in 2012. 3rd win in 7 runs since Aug 23rd after around 35-40 before that with no win but a lot of places. 2 of wins earlier debuts and dropping horses in grade. One a claimer win and now a Mickey Mouse nursery at soft Ffos Las. The 'Brighton' of Wales. Hardy Red dropped to OR70 from OR73 LTO and always looked likely to be competitive at that level. A bit bigger than Khefyn overall and HR seemed to have matured mentally running straight and relaxed. Laster season wins in nurseries and multiple nursery wins for a horse common overall for Osborne so check how his later season develops. Irish trainer Loughnane here with an older horse he said was "handicapped to win if it showed it's form". So Scoobys Girl just here as a box-filler rather than some Irish trainer targetted punt. Trainer Harris said he had never seen a horse of his handle soft going as well as Khefyn did LTO at CHEP over 5f. Up to 6f here but never going as well and fading at the finish rather than the strong finish at CHEP on a downhill section. Clerk of Course at Ffos Las interviewed before racing and said that despite the course having a reputation for drying quickly this wet summer had knocked that belief. They were carrying extra drainage work on the course starting with the back straight which was why this meeting was all Home straight track races. |
