GGS by meeting start. GSG as it had been 2 days prior. Going Stick reading from 09:00am. Rail out a FURTHER 3yds from the previous day's meeting. Extra 22yds race distance over the advertised 5f & 110yds. Medium WSW Wind = Crosswind From Left in Home Straight, Tailwind of varying strength mid-race. Stewards WTRB = "The Stewards considered the running of TIME AND PLACE, ridden by Jimmy Quinn and trained by Richard Fahey, which finished unplaced. The Stewards noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the colt had missed the break. They ordered TIME AND PLACE to be routine tested. " Not sure what the problem the stewards were after with TAPlace. Interesting race in efficiency terms with first two home running the most efficient races in a pressurised race with a stiff pace on a turning track and a loose surface. Most of field did things wrong to visibly explain their efforts if thought about in a Power Output way. Pace too strong anf first two through halfway paid for that and underperformed, SLook sat far enough off pace on rail and settled from early on and able to produce a sensible S&P effort off the pace. Effie B not able to handle the pace as comfortably and running a bit wider so took longer to get involved but able to pluf on in the last 1F to challenge the winner but SL able to respond. New Fforest seemed to run well and promising better given how much she did wrong. Slow start, pulling too hard and running very wide. Solid effort in last 2f given that. TOver another slow starter and then not really picking up so getting well behind. And TAP never looking comfortable on the going nor handling the tight turning track and hanging at times. Jockey in two minds whether to pack it in inside the last 2F after TAP got unbalanced. Horse plugged on ok once into the straight and another that can perform much better with a more suitable test. |
