GF as it had been for the two previous days of this meeting. Interview with Clerk of Course suggests 3-6mm of watering per day but he never puts this info on the official website. Going Stick reading from 07:00am at 7.1, the same as the previous day and 7.0 on Tuesday. Stiff SW Wind = Half Headwind from Right and different from the previous two days of slight tailwind. Tompkins website pre-race = "In the next we have Likelikelikelikeit. She has had three runs showing a bit of promise and really hated the soft ground last time. I am hoping the step up in trip can bring some improvement." Stalls Centre but Spencer doing exactly as he did in the first race of day. Broike Quickly from High Draw and led then took field over to Stands' Rail. More than 1L clear at halfway, vaguely increased pace before 2F out then the usual 2F out effort. As in first race overhauled but later in race here. Aseela held back initially as if she might be a free runner but then seemed to part pack it in and driven along before halfway and whip in use not long after. Only runner to make real progress in final 2F and did so for a hard ride and perhaps could have won more comfortably for a more efficient and compliant Run Style. |
