HV as it had been 2 days piror. 4mm of rain overnight. Going Stick reading from 07:00am. Stiff Westerly Wind = Three-Quarter Headwind from the Left. Field split into two Groups early with Group of 4 racing close to stands rail and the others racing wider spread on Centre-FrSd strip. Useless director gave up on halfway side on shot to give patchwork of close ups of groups and difficult to line up two groups at halfway. Far Side group started their efforts a little earlier than the Stands Side and soon leaving them behind plus the straggler from their side. Leading 4 on Far Side at halfway effectively sorting the race out between them in the last 2F. Perhaps mark up Golden Secret as the only one of the Stands Side group to produce a solid effort in the last 2F. Hung Left and ended up racing Centre track and close to touching edge of Far Side Group towards last 1F and perhaps only 4L off second, with the winner clear, before fading. GS another smaller, chestnut, one but the dam has produced two Group winners who were that physical type and outran their looks to various degrees. |
