SUMMARY
5-6DegC & Stiff NE wind. X-wind from left BS & right HS, helpful tailwind around the bend.

Probably a slow time for the conditions with track fast for best card of year at KTNA. Hfs to final tell a lot of the story with only the first 4 really in a race by halfway. LLady faded out of that 4 early which left MM/GG/OP to fight out the finish. MM not getting home but lasting a long time as a small OR50s one. GG presumably better than Mselle and another competent debut for Harris and appeared to have race won when eventually wearing down MM and 1L clear late on. But OP tv ok in 2R on rail for race and a bit green and took time to get going in short str. Went for gap on Far Rail inside last 1F but MM hanging closed it. OP then had to switch off the rail to come around MM/GG and good effort to get up to lead on the line. Interesting question over whether MM/GG fading late as pace solid & how much OP finding something diff in being able to make 2 efforts and one late after blocked havinf been close to pace. Race prob OR60s but OP did e to suggest OR80+ but need to check her PRev. GG prob OR70s but check & trnr going back to siblings he knows as GG a half to Glamorous Spirit whom he claimed as a 2yo then won a duff Irish Gp3 with at 4yo.

OPark means trainer Coles in his 3rd season has had 5 x 2yos on debut. 2 x FTO wins by first one to run in 2012-3 now. In 2010 he had a 2nd fto with his 2nd rnr of season. Clear pattern dev of both readiness and indexing. OP a full to Tharawal Lady who won FTO in 2012 in April. Bit of a 'miss' in hindsight to rate her so low in PRF.

LLady sl bigr & lengthier IC but got tired early having pressed the pace. Exactly the same with his other deb today. Why both debs like this and not like BJub & SMoon in 2012? Lesser types and/or lesser preparation? Poss bec of weather.

Good Q over what Kodafine achieved in closing onto back of leading 3 on line without getting into the race. Evans four in race and Kirby ridden proved best. BUT, all 3 of his given non-involving rides. Koda 6L back at Hf which suggests pace was folding back in last 0.5f. But presumably showed something in making up 5L. Work on usable OR70s basis.

Race fell apart bhd the leading 4 plus the only competent closer. Jawmeiner tried to get involved in mdfld wd to bend but then started moving poorly bhd and jk tried to pull her up on bend and ended up trotting home. Kitty Brown hauled to the back and JkQt overall and NPIR. Presume smaller but impossible to judge on what she was allowed to show here.

The other 3 who had Profile to be possibles to challenge for win on profile ALL failed to handle the LH bend and failed to get involved bec of that. QOTT a slightly slow start by 5th on rail at Hf and ahead of Kodafine who managed to get to 3rd from 1.75L further back on rail. Which meant that if QOTT had been able to make just a solid effort in str she would have challenged, But hung left on bnd to str then in Centre track and hanging a bit in last 1F. ODD, to see a tweet from trnr post race saying she ran well but a slow start caused it. She ran poorly and the hanging on the bend caused it and never mentioned. Kindanyce at double figs on Betfair am and 8/1 a rel long SP for a Fahey FTO. He has said he has less off the zippy 2yos this year but surely the earliest out should still be ok & not long term dev types he says he has more of in 2013? Not given a chance to find out what Kindanyce is because a slow start then hauled back 3L to ensure she was out of things early. Then Veered left into bnd and centre track and out of race. Some resp in str with JkQt. What type? Cafetiere drift 13/2 to 8/1 which tends to really be a -ve with trnr Cole. Has ped to be ok 5F and trnrs earl debs (to end Apr) in the 4 seasons have usually shown a lot of what they can do FTO. Cafet. a little green early and in str and hanging left around bend having got a bit lit up & FFH by early niggling. Poss the lack of concentration and FFH caused the hanging unlike the other two. Ahead of Kodafine at Hf despite hanging so if could have raised eff in str could have made 1st 4 but SHgL to str then appeared too inx to pick up. Another in a ruck of hangers, JkQts & early faders who have more to show with a competent run & not dismissable.

QOTTarts = Tweet after rc = "Well done to @TobiasBPColes for winning the bonus 2yo race @kemptonparkrace today. Our filly ran well but missed the break #notdisgraced" = WHAT about the hanging left from 2f out

Cole website 25th = Cafetiere, she goes well and with a draw should be there or there abouts. No doubt the other trainers will be thinking the same.

SLife MOTS = HEDY beat the only other runner with experience, Marilyn Marquessa, three lengths when third at Lingfield last week. Rather than guess at the ability of the newcomers, Mick Channon's filly gets the nod with improvement expected. David Evans' is well represented with three runners and Jawmiener could prove best of those ahead of Kodafine, while Richard Fahey won last year's renewal so Kindanyce is worth a second glance in the betting. Lawman's Lady is another to note and any strong support for Cafetiere could be telling as she's a half-sister to four winners including the useful Percolator. Orton Park may prove best of the rest.
