GS from GGF on Decs. 4mm of Rain Weds. Rain Forecast for the Day. GStick 08:30am. Stalls Stands' Side. 18DegC. Light SW Wind = 3/4+ Headwind from Left HS. Fahey pre-race SLife = "Come On Sunshine makes his debut in the one-mile maiden but I can't offer much encouragement. His dam was Tagula Sunrise, one of our favourites, but he doesn't seem to have inherited much of his mum's speed. In fact, he's shown us very little. Let's hope he can surprise us." Hannon Jks = Hughes (Pupil), Dobbs (Leisure Cruise). Raven Ridge looks like a horse whose price was held down by being at the wrong sale. Most buyers seem to be looking for '2yo Types' at Breeze Ups and one of the few Quantitative measures used seems to be the time for the last 1f. For example, a big galloper like Libertarian (2nd in 2013 Derby) wasn't sold for 40k at 2012 Tatts Brz Sale. VT not on website but you imagine a big, green, SDisorg Galloper doing a slow 1f time. Doesn't tick the right boxes for a '2yo' buyer. Raven Ridge does a perfectly reasonable, solid and straight running breeze. OkSz and Len and uses his Len Ok. But he looks like an 8f+ Galloper and his final 1f time prob well below average because he gallops along right to the finish but no sprinter snap. Looks ok. Bell website day before the race = "introduce a nice two-year-old colt called Raven Ridge. He has done a few pieces of nice work and although possibly not forward enough to win, we hope he will be competitive. " Last work Video for Raven Ridge is from Sept 8th working in a trio with Newmarket Warrior (run 3 times & has OR76 & acting as 'lead' horse) & unraced Ribblehead. RRidge goes fine and loses a bit to other two as hill kicks in late in Gallop and looks a bit green. But, gathers himself ok and comfortably back with other two before finish and ahead and going ok on pull up as his 'stayer' profile suggests. Head held to left mostly. Looked Slower Pace to Half with a tight group at Hf in Centre Track with prob less than 5L off lead for Pupil off the back on StdsSd of Grp. |
