GFG as on Decs. Watering but no details given. GStick 06:15am Far Rail Out (No Amount Given) from after the Intersection to the Finishing Line. 19DegC. Medium Westerly Wind = Slight Tailwind from Left HS. Trnr Lanigan doesn't seem to do 2yos nor placed FTOs, barring odd one too useful to stop. More interested in 3yo set-ups and handicaps. No 2yo winner in 2013 and all debuts unp. In 213 he says Bold Lass was more precocious than the average Sea The Stars 2yo and he was aiming to get her started over 6f in June. Check whether that amounts to better ability, a smaller one, or something else. Trnr Bell in 213 says Song Beam is "strong...disappointed if she doesn't have the boot for 6f....should be out in June/July". So, presumably she has already disappointed him? Stable website on Sun 6th Oct says "She has looked better for each piece of work she has done and it would be great to see her run well. She is in the December Sales and so a good effort may just see her being retained." Which sounds like a little one needing to go duck to Swan somehow to avoid being culled by 'Stud JCB'. Latest work VT from Sat 5th Oct shows her working on turf with two other unraced fillies - Saltwater Creek & Spiritoftheunion - in some easy work on turf. All three look smaller. Song Beam seems to go best and looks to be a puller and prob ok build for Sz. That with the pulling perhaps leading to the early thoughts by Bell about a 6f start. [Post Race] Interesting to know why the Market thought Amaseena was better prospect STO that Maria Bella. It proved correct with Amaseena at least one size bigger than MBella and able to hold off her chal. On debut MB had made ground on Amaseena in the HS and finished a little stronger. Looked for much of the last 2f that the winner would be the one who lasted best from that pair's duel. Late on Bold Lass ran past them both on the rail and suggests what Lanigan saw in her has 6f precocious was more than just a 'small one' with no scope. |
