SUMMARY
Raining during the Meeting and S by race time. GSS from GS on Decs.

Crosse Fire's Breeze video suggests that no-one told the rider people times the breezes and everyone expects to see the horse put under pressure to do a faster gallop. CF a smaller one and Green throughout. Never gets out of a gentle gallop and that looks a bit slow and 'gallopy'. Hard to expect much on the VT and other credentials othe than that the trainer likes ready debuts.

Classic Maiden race set-up beforehand with a poor favourite in Rocking The Boat. A negative on debut as a smalk 60s one and showing little promise. But her sales price, respect for the trainer etc, means RTB ends up favouroite anyway. A good set-up for PRev to look at the newcomers to look for anything with a bit of size to oppose the favourite with. On Profile you would look for a trainer who regularly gets FTO winners. The problem with this race is that this race was stiff with trainers who get a lot of strong debuts.

Varian, as detailed in the race summaries before, gets a high %age of FTO wins from horses that can win at 2yo. Tigrilla's win here meaning he has 1 x FTO win and 2 x 2nds (first one already converted STO) in 2014. Rae Guest has had 8 x individual 2yo winners in 2012-13 and 5 of those won FTO. 2 of them filies winning FTO at LEIC in 2013. Peter Chapple-Hyam used to be an over-preparer for debut and said he relaxed a bit after coming back from Hong Kong and did not Time Trial his 2yos before debut any more. He has still had FTO wins in every season since 2004 and usually at least 2. His first wins each year are usual his competitive 2yos FTO. Which meant that a race where the representatives of those three trainers duelled as a trio to the line makes perfect 'Sense'.

The way the other horses ran makes sense on trainer MOs as well. Dixon has a poor recod overall but an over-preparer for debut. Crosse Fire fizzy and dancing AP and pace pressing in the race. Even given that still enough size and readiness to outlast RTB. Native Charmer the first runner of the season for Ed McMahon who gets a higher percentage of FTOs wins than any trainer here. But, unlike Chapple-Hyam say, they aren't usually early in the season or amongst his fist batch unless with a high class one like Temple Meads. He eases into the season and the FTO wins come a bit later. NC looking and ok size but not as fit and forward as some.

Trainers Williams and Littmoden both used to get FTO wins many years ago and mostly with better class runners. Both, in recent years, seem to have lost interest in 2yo racing and Littmoden has had one FTO win in 2006 since 2004. Williams has had 2 since 2000 with the last in 2008. The 2 who won FTO were a 2yo who later won a nursery off OR90 and Hogmaneigh (enough said). No surprise to see their pair off-the-back.
