Malabar working VT from 20th May with Zuzinia and the unraced If I Can I Will. Malabr a similar size to Zuzinia who seems to be HdUp and running green. 3 x 2yos spread out last and Malabar just about matching the puzzled looking Zuzinia. Malabar ridden by 'Candy' (Morris) who often rides the one competitive for 'now'? Of the 2 then IICIW looks to be going easiest and finishes a little ahead of Z & Malabar and bigger than those too = looks mor one to follow. On May 23rd Malabar works with Caltrac Colleen (placed in a weak race at RDCR earlier in weak looking a slow 7f smaller one). Similar size to CC and allowed to finish ahead of her in a slow work.

Slow Time off a Slow Pace. Barely a 2f 'Sprint' at the finish and very little change from Hf to Final Positions. Other than Liberal Angel fading the difference in VTLs for the other 5 are all under 1L. A race lacking enough pace pressure to spread the field out but the heap at the finish probably also indicating a lower quality field for an Open Maiden so nothing able to separate herself forwards.

Savoy Showgirl the readiest on the day mentally and pysically but not the best type in the field. Probably just below 75 and found a winnable race here and became more likely with the easy lead she got. Interesting to see how the work videos information unfolds. When she worked with Ho Yam Lay SS looked good and going ok in the lead with a small one next to her. HYL two poor runs before and perhaps 60s if she is usable. When she ran in a 4 x filly workout she finished with Tarando who has placed in 2 of her 3 runs but another lower 70s one and that fits with this result. The other fillies in that 4-up work are unrced and looked bigger and travel better than the other pair. Which would mean Touchline & Thunderinmyheart should be 75+ and perhaps 80+ when they start to race.

Field raced Centre track and the 3 on the FrSd of Centre line made better efforts than the 3 on the StdsSd of that line. Probable that was just coincidence and the 3 on the Stands Side of the group had visible issues. York Express switched left after the start to race widest to Far Side. Made a similar or slightly better effort than SS to get close to challebging her 1F out. Late fade hid that move. On the effort you might say a 72 one and looked a bit under 70 in PRev. But, will need to find a sub-75 maiden to win and may well end up a placer who goes to nurseries.

Malabar another smaller on for Channon and fit and comeptent FTO. Getting 3lbs from the others with a competent A3 in a simple race set-up. Despite that the A3 managed to find a road-block to bump into. Malabar travelling ok 2F but a less immediate effort than SS & YE and dropped a bit behind them. Responding int he last 1F but A3 aiming for a small gap between SS & YE which part closed-0.5f. But partly because Malabar not moving forward fast enough and just labouing on. Lost 0.5L there and plugging on back at the line. Another somewhere around 70?

Fruity one of the 3 on the Stds Side of the group and her problem is that she is the smallest and prob mid-60s. Which means the first 3 home are better quality than she is and her effort relative to them makes sense.

The last pair home are more interesting and probably the biggest pair in the field. Abbey Angel had a couple of problems the first one being green. This showed up both in the prelims and in the race. A slow start in the race but getting back to the slow pace ok but then running too freely before halfway. Green issue returned when asked to join in the 2f sprint and taking time to get going. Then started hanging left-1f and did ok to only fade late given that. Inclined to view she should be 75+ and better prospect than the 1st 4 home.

Liberal Angel the other bigger one in this group (Burke typical to but bigger ones if he can afford them) and mostly ready although a bit green 2f out and then the earliest fader. But, on size ok for around 75 and more interesting (and hopefully) value to follow.
