GGF from GS on Decs. Rail fully in. Given the low price Fast Scat looks a bit bigger in the Breeze Video than expected. Smaller medium and perhaps a bit narrow but some power behind. Very green and never gets going and hanging left for a period and then right while looking around. Possible that the slower pace she shows when balanced for a period is as fast as she is. Putting her into a solid quality Maiden FTO out on a technical track seems asking for trouble. You would expect the jk to be busy from as soon as the gates open until she fades (early). With the rail fully in and faster going the Strong bias towards racing along the rail and prominently (as long as in controlled fashion) seemed to come strongly to the fore in this race. With a lot of slow starts and not handling the track the first three through Halfway had formed up by the end of the first 1F. With issues with others those 3 had a clear break to the rest by Hf which would be unsurmountable unless a Group 1 winner was tucked away in the ruck. Inclined to take the view that the front of this race at the finish not that strong and oppose the 2nd & 3rd as Open Maiden class. A lot of the rest of the field small fillies who are of no interest going forward but 3-4 usable ones of varying levels in the ruck at the finish. They seem more intyeresting to follow than the suspect placed horses and hopefully the 'poor form' that is in the book after this race will make them value down the line. Seve misjudged in Profile partly because jk Craine on Little Belter and Winston (rare ride for trainer and not rated by B2yoR) on Seve. That horse looked just a medium one and just a medium build but moves well and athletic. Also very professional and got an easy time up front. But, credit for that and an ok effor tinthe last 2F without looking better class. Some sort of mid 70s? Crawford Lane looking small in VRev and moving poorly in the last 1F and getting unbalanced. Whole effect not looking positive and hence the downside view of her and that feeding into the take of the race. Work of basis of one to see if she is opposable NTO. Anonymous John sub-75 on size and ran well considering the problems her found although he had the advantage of racing the rail. The fact that he made so much ground back to the first two in the HS suggests either he is better than the 70 take or the front of the race a bit lower quality than it will be taken for. AJ a usable one but not Open Maiden level. The four small fillies Fast Scat, Featsdontfailmenow, Lady Zodiac & Toni's A Star all overpowered and otclassed in various ways even taking the technical track and the issues they made or found for themselves. FDFMNow again showing a nippy start but unbale to put a race together. Fast Scat perhaps showing a bit moe than basment level in getting into the faders. But none of the 4 of any real interest. Which leaves 4 others in the field who should be better than they showed in this techical test so of interest NTO and as they develop their careers. The caveat of course is that they all have something to fix/prove now. Miss Mullberry an Ok Sized filly and the biggest in this field. She also has some ok power and basi pace. Unfortunatly, as on debut, she used that pace to pull herself to the leading pair and race much too freely. She had to make much to strong an effort from a wide draw to force her way to 2nd after 1f but racing 1 wide overall to add to the problems. Still hustling the winner into the last 2f and still 3rd into the last 1f (as she had been FTO) before the inevitable fade. Now has a 7th & 8th against her name but has much more basic ability than that if she can settle. With a reliable trainer so some hope that she will. Time to dream about her getting loose on the lead in a weak fillies race at EDIN or CATT at 8/1 some day and watch the rabbits truggle to get her back. Grazed Knees a long SP STO after a break from debut and not looking fit. Support to favourite here suggested that, with a usable draw if he broke well, connections were expecting a big run. But, after an ok start GK hesitant and never travelling and seemed not to handle the course at all. Presume he will be on a less technical track NTO and still ok for 75+. Spend A Penny not seeing out 5f on debut although running ok and the SP presumably acknowledginh the poor draw. A slow start left him well back but running outside AJohn through halfway so you might think he would have showed more and perhaps plugged on with AJ. But, didn't seem to pick up on the track in the last 2f and moving awkwardly at times. Inclined to forget this run. Similar comments for Little Belter who was left with an impossible job after a slow start and hampered pick-up from the stalls. Hung out 3 wide after 1f and bumped again and 2 wid ethe closest he got to a rail. Didn't show anything in terms of picking up in the last 2f but inclined to put that down to LB being frazzled by then. Ought to be a usable one late 60s to 70 and discount this run. |
