GF as on Decs. 6mm of Watering Thu. Fanciful Angel a typical Dark Angel in his Breeze Video. Medium or a bit below with some length. Deep and ok build. MIddling paced action and middling speed. A bit unbalanced late on. Similar comments for Gea And Tea's Breeze Video. A bit smaller than FAngel and less deep and build. But a similar speed action and looking willing and running straight until hanging left late on. Senor Firecracker prob a bit on the small side in his Breeze Video and a lengthy & plain one of his sire. But not 6k small. A bit green in his Breeze but a slower action and prob a slow time. Goes along at his one one-pace. Perhaps in the wrong sale with Breeze buyers often expecting to see 'now' 2yo performances? Field started centre track but Epithet taken to lead in front of the Big Mcintosh & Mr Shekells (pulling & held) and made move to Far Side and others followed. Besides the pair in 2R onlt Guiding Light & British Art making any real effort to get involved and, usual for a Maiden, the others behind those in 6th+ already out of the race if the first 5 uncluded any solid types who could see out 6f competently. Sky Steps in 6th+1f but pulling hard and jk trying to stop him going forward. Not a strong Maiden in PRev and Epithet a shorter model if quite strongly made in the 'Shamardal' manner. Allowed to dominate the race and get an easy time in the lead. Seemed to make a likeable effort in the last 2F to go 5L clear of the others relatively quickly. Typical so far in 2014 for Appleby runners to Peak STO. His record with 3TOs to June 25th not encouraging with a single place from 6 runners. 3 of the 6 were at RASCT and priced 12/1 top 16/1 range. But, all 3 of those regressing from STO and not running even 'solid' races. So, a mixed story with Epithet and on the positive side the forward effort in the last 2F visually good. But, running away from lesser quality and in a slow time after an easy lead. Also the '3TO issue' still a developing story for Appleby. Guiding Light fit for debut but a bit too lightly made and rating around 70 on PRev. Got into the race unlike most of the other newcomers but a low level effort 2f out and not seeing the 6f out. Would need racing widest towards Centre Track to be a disadvantage to think he is better than the 70ish type. |
