SUMMARY
GF as on Decs.

Picture of the Finish & Stroll Patrol clear near the line :-

Race with an Odd Record taking the last 3 years as examples. £10k Bonus Race so you would think it would gather a solid field quality with a number of 75+ ones but that does not seem to be the case. In 2011 the 9 declared were an ok Group by the race's recent standards with two 75+ in 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th usable later 60s at least. But the 24 fillies declared in 2012-13 produced just 3 subsequent winners - an NR in 2012 won a Maiden & in 2013 a midfield runner won a Maiden but ended the season in a Claimer and another filly improved in late season to win over 9f. Look through the other runners and lacking the Top stables and a lot of smaller stables with runners.

Which is useful background when you are looking through the PRev notes for the 2014 field and thinking that 14 x fillies in a £10k Bonus Race cannot possess so little Future Interest. Has LEIC moved North of the Trent? Look at the Trainers for this edition and surely it ought to be better than the last 2 years? But, look at the Sales info and 3-4 bought for 30-40k and the rest either cheaper purchases or some sort of OBs. The race might actually be that 'Bad' after all & the Reviewer not just leaning too much towards the Negative.

Whatever, trainer McBride showed up very well in the pre-Season work of Stable Quality vs Sales Prices paid. His record in 2014 is living up to that billing very well. He has alread had a winner of a Nursery off OR59 who cost 2,000 and Stroll Patrol cost 5,500 and ironed this lot out. SP a standout in the field for size and the only one with a definite 70+ rating from the PRev. Solid size, neat enough and well prepared. Fallon just had to not fall off in the end. 71-74 range on PRev rating but the strong finish here suggesting she can go a bit higher?

Mixed Pace race with a slower first 1f+ with nothing wanting to lead. Wide drawn Dolorous then pulling to the lead to up the Pace a bit. Stroll Patrol & Primrose Valley bot Drawn near the Rail and joined up as a pair after 2f and Fallon seemed to think that Dolorous might be getting too soft a time so moved SP up across to the Centre Group & PV with them. That pair then leading a SP now going a bit free.

Primrose Valley a full sister to Costa Filey who showed placed form in 2013 but also a too Fizzy attitude in various ways. PV looking the same but to fiery a temperament and previous efforts have included too free running and being WD AP for being unruly. Hood & Cheekpieces here and mostly behaving if still looking like she has her own ideas. 2nd best effort in the last 2f and hung onto SP for a fair while. Later 60s?

By the 3rd horse home already into the fillies who didn't get positive reviews. Some Show the first into the Prelims on her own. Smaller one, lighter build & up behind and prob a bit too compact. Convince yourself she's 50s and think the nest 13 will be better. But having seen them SShow now seems bigger and almost 'ok' by comparison. Picyture makes her look more neatly made than she seems moving. A low level effort in the last 2f and beaten 6L so not a strong 3rd and but seems mor elikely to be lower 60s now?

Aqlette a diffrent shape to SShow and more build in places. Perhaps a bit Narrow & that causing the Rating figure to vary between 62-67 depending what view you had. Similar run to SShow in coming away from the rest to a clear 4th but beaten a long way and some sort of 60s.

Solstalla a small one and made little impression. 60ish? and a bit green overall here.

The first 5 clear of the 6th+ but looking some spread of 70s down to perhaps upper 50s raises a question of how much time & interest to spend on the 6th+ finishers? They are going to need a very good excuse given how far they were beaten.

Dolorous shown in the pictures above had a 73 from VRev FTO. As the pictures should show she was in excellent condition here (coat starting to dapple) but that seemed to tip over into being too bouncy and unfocussed (Good Energy going a bit Bad). The picture prob don't show another problem in that she was smaller than expected. Mostly ok within the frame but Size limited. Ran a bit too free in the race as her demeanour in the Prelims made very likely. But, that isn't enough to excuse the moderate effort in the last 2f. She seemed to fold very tamely in stages and a bit of Head Up thrown in. Not a case of fading early because she boiled over. Later 60s? Gosden ought to get her rated 70+ but last 2f here suggest an issue needs fixing.

Right Madam belongs in a 'Pair' with PV as both are to fizzy and stroppy and issues to fix. RM late into the Prelims and left unsaddled until laet. Dismounted AP and loaded last without the jk. All presumably trying to keep her calmer.RM improved in attitude overall but still too free in the race and an early fade. Reamins of some usables 60s interest because the fixing process should mean she gets a usable OR.

Check whether Prima Pagina get rated above 44. Anf finally, in the spirit of come-on-there-must-be-something-to-follow then Red Words a bit more size and potential in the ruck and might be ok 70ish. To put it diplomatically she was given an 'Educational Intro' ride here after a slow start and the jk having to effectively hold her back in bit in the last 1f and she was starting to think she could nip past some of the other straggler. And, really finally the Buckinghams were at the course to watch two of their many horses with trainer McCabe. The Other Lady might be ok 60ish but allowed to drift off the back here and difficult from a distance to say what the riding instructions or plan was. Feel like asking the Buckinghams whether then enjoed watching TOL & Red Unico How about 'The Other Trainer'..
