GF as on Decs. 12mm on HS on Tue. Thundery Showers Forecast for the pm. Medium SW Wind = Direct Headwind. Notably Slow Time and 2.22secs slower than the preceding fillies maiden with Uptight carrying 5lbs more. Having seen Fast Magic & Red Majesty look bulky, deep and strong on their debuts, but unfit what made the difference here. Below are pictures of those two plus the Bulky, but oddly compact, Dominic Cork (runs the following Day as bottomwight in a GDWD Nursery) on an internal debut (after a break). Picture to follow of the quite possibly more bulky Uptight and not looking Fit either but does his bulk hide his fitness? Is Uptight a good one wininng FTO 'anyway' even if underdone? Why is the time so slow? etc. Uptight bottom right as Numbercloth 8. Alternative AP (At Post) VP Page. = Looking at the AP Pictures a few points - Why would Duke Of North ever be favourite if you looked at this VP in isolation? Why would Yeah Cool get even mild Market support? To finish the lighter build points - has Giannizzero finished 2nd by being readier than better types? Which of the three Chestnuts on the Bottom Left to Top Right Diagonal has the most scope and should rate highest? Any of them 75+? Dark Wonder.... Tall and shallow bodied one and power limited or a Tall and Rangy one with scope? [Post VRev] A very rough bit of Timing suggests the Leader in this race got to be fully side-on with the 'Haflway' Camera about 1 second faster than the fillies' maiden. Races also look different visually with the fillies race having a sole leader having a soft time in front and the pace 'Slow' enough to alooww 2-3 behind to be free-running and held in various ways. This race had Uptight & Prince Of Time hooking up as a Leading Pair and responding to each other to build the pace. Rather than having Pullers in this race every horse, other than Uptight, is being Niggled along before Halfway and the 2R racing settled with a gap to the 1st two until they are niggled rather than running into the back of, or trying to join, the sole leader. [Ref Note :- The 'Halfway' camera at NOTT is about 50yds past Halfway for 6f races. but isn't in a consistent place at different meetings Different Cameraman park the truck in different places in a circle around the Electricity Supply point and using different lengths of power leads. They also put the hydraulic platform at different angles above the truck. They also move the platform down/up between races so they can go back to reading the newspaper. Which means the camera might be in slightly different places for each race. Particularly if Wind/Rain conditions change. ] The leader in the fillies' race finished the race off strongly eough and in Centre Track. Here the forcing Leading Pair were stalling and breaking up soon inside the last 2F and hanging left. Uptight ended up rolling home on the Far Rail for the last 1f.. PoTime fading earlier and 'caught' by the plugging on 2R by 1F out when on the Far Side. Race played out like the 2R+ horses had all been put under enough Pace Pressure to be unable to make any forward move in the last 2f and just rolling home tired themselves. If there had been a Better Class one behind they presumably would have been able to sit 2-3L of the pacemakers and finish the race off an win clearly. The winner of the Fillies race - Sulaalaat would have been sitting 5L or so off the leaders here and would have beaten Uptight by 10L+ at the line. What was the balance of Pace Pressure vs Relative abilities between the two races? Again, on a very Rough bit of Timing the Last 1f prob took Uptight around 15secs for this race and some mild closing onto him late. Sulaalaat prob a good portion of the 2.25secs faster than Uptight gained in the last 1f. |
