GGS from G on Decs. GGS for Thu Meeting but early AM GStick 7.9 to 7.6 early AM Thu. Rain Forecast for the Day. Inner HS in Use. Blythe Prince looking unlike his limited full brother Wrightington in his Breeze Video. Bay not Chestnut for a start. But, also bigger and stronger. Prob a bit above medium with ok length. Mixed Story with his Breeze where he looks raw overall and disorganised at times. Holds his head up and 'ripples' his tail regularly if not flashing it (Not getting on with the Rider on the Day? Also looking down & back at the rider when head up). Each pair of legs not really working together. But, he does show some pace including a solid forward kick at one point and leaves the impression he has more potential than he showed. If he can get organised. My Mo a negative on his Breeze Video where he looks very 'young'. Leggy but doesn't use that range and does a slow, ponderous breeze looking a lightweight stayer. Race Pace looking too Strong with the field well spread out by halfway. Marshall Jennings dropped to 6f and going too freely in the lead with his head held up and out against the hold. Hooked up with Muzarkash & only Honcho still around in an S&P position by Halfway. Too Strong Pace meant a lot of fading back and the race set up for Closers. With the first 5 through Halfway all under Pressure from the pace and the last pair through poor quality (My Mo) or too Green (Blythe Prince that only left Opportuna & Pumaflor as possible closers. Which they both did in different ways as the Green shows. A race set-up which means a Mixed Story over assessing what Opportuna achieved in a close second. She was green for most of the race and got well behind for various reasons. Even when responding in the last 2.5f she was hanging left a lot and never showed much more than low level plugging on. But, with the prominent runners sollapsing and folding back because of the pace that was enough to get her challenging to win. If the race had been run at a usable pace then hard to think she would have done better than a non-threatening 4th but staying on ok. A smaller medium one but deep enough and ok build. How much effort can she show if the green issues are fixed but in a rce where she has to 'beat' other horses rather than plug on past tired ones? Work as 74 & wait PRev. Marshall Jennings looking the biggest & bulkiest in the field. Dropped to 5f here and broke well and settled in the lead early on. Joined by Muzarkash across the path before then end of the 1st 1F and that seemed to set MJ off. Running a bit too free thereafter and with his head held up and out. That stretched the field out and MJ going ok to 2F out and already seen off Muzarkash. But had softened himself up and while able to respond to being headed by Honcho before 1.5f out staling and fading in the last 1f. Looked like an 80+ horse underperforming because of the free-running. Showed a medium KA. |
