GGF from G on Decs. CoC quote = "Inner of straight dolled out 2yds at 6f and 2yds at the winning post.". Medium Westerly Wind = Direct Tailwind HS & 3/4 Tailwind to the Intersection. Treaty Of York looking a recognisable Physical Type in his Breeze Video. A smaller one and a compact body length. But, on the positive side a bulky barrel and strong. Looks a bit green in his breeze but goes along ok for 1f+ and looking a speed sprinter is he is anything. Gets tired in the last 0.5f and his lack of size & range shows up more when he isn't rolling along up to his full speed. [Aside - Prescott on C4 Morning Line and saying his mate Henry Candy had one of the best 'Eyes' for buying horses amongst trainer. Saying "Henry is always loping around buying something for 16k that goes 4 times as fast ones the rest of us by for [much more]..." A regular in Candy's 214 comments is him saying such-an-such a horse has grown a lot since the sales and looks a different/big horse now. Camdy buying potential to develop for cheaper prices with 1yos? Worth noting that a number (lot?) of his 1yo purchases are 'buy backs' of some sort for friends and contacts who breed horses. Does Candy buy readier and 'complete' horses at the Breeze Ups?, i.e. not looking for growth potential but looking for a fast and ready one now. . ==== Post Race ==== [Sep 2] Solid pace and putting the lesser & green ones under pressure. Salt Island running the rail and the only one of the prominent racers to see the race out. Had the advantage of the rail but going clear at the finish. Finton Friend ridden by an A7 who has only had 2 rides this season. To say he was 'Raw' would be overselling him. FF breaking a bit slow but then losing 8-10L in the initial 1f as firstly the A7 was looking down at his lap and not giving FF any instructions. Briefly niggled FF but then sat still again while the horse got adrift on the rail. Having done nothing for the first 3.5F of the race he then turned into Willie Carson on Benzedrine towards the last 2f which surprised poor old FF who thought he was delivering 'Potatoes'. FF then making ground along the advantageous rail. Seemed to do more than just stay on into tired horses and there was some 'Tomorrow' riding goiong on out wide. Which seems some promise but FF looking a smaller one, a touch narrow and at least one of his forelegs doesn't move straight. Inclined to think he just achieved hauling himself past Q Twenty Girl rather than commending his 'promise' in a mixed ability race. See how that take pans out. Ragged debut by Treaty Of York and not helped by jk Turner always being at least half-a-step behind the horse and the race development. ToY broke ok near the rail but taken back to allow SIsland to lead. But, instead of running in 2R on the rail ToY starting hanging left and losing ground. Which meant he started hanging out to centre track and tehn started pulling before halfway. That left him in 3R wide on the track towards the last 2f. Took time to get organised them some mild plugging on before getting tired and looking small as he had on the Breeze Video. Already fading when he got a bit of a bump late on and for the jk to report that as a WTRB feels like dismissing the long list of other problems through the race. See how the Market looks STO but not looking 70 on this over 6f. [Sep 8] Burauq able to keep up ok here FTO in a slower paced race on softer grouns. Low level plugging on there but head always a bit up in the last 1.5f and jk working to keep him plugging on. This race run in about 3.2secs faster and Burauq always having to be driven along to get going and niggled through most of the race. Some of that perhaps lack of pace but the Head Up and thinking/hesistancy evident from the start here. Driven along to get going. The same laboured low level plugging on in the last 2f and fading into the last 0.5f. Also hiniting at some bad attitude when responding to the right side whip blow into the last 1f by hanging notably left - but making little difference to his final effort. Smaller, 60s one prob and not certain to show the ability he has until his head-up-thinking demeanour is fixed. |
