Compton Viking's Breeze a mixed story. Looks a shorter but lengthy 'Acclamation' type and a bit narrow and slightly shallow bodied. Does a straight breeze but single paced and has a 'busy' action in front. Little knee action and pounds down. Perhaps a bit wide in front in the gallop?. Lacking power? Glenbuck Lass looking ok in her Breeze Video. Green and not getting much help or encoragement to speed up from the rider. So, does a nothing breeze and still learning about going fast on cut up turf. But, what you would expect from a 'Dandy Man'. Smaller Medium to medium, IP body legth and deep through the body. Seems to have some range in front but too green to use it in the breeze. Looks ok for 70+ unless size misjudged and she's small and size limited despite the power-in-a-box shape. === Post Race === [Sep 21st] Winstanley running a bit better than the final result reads. Race never forming up into a 'ribbon' and a widespread front rank going around the bend together. Winstanley with 3 horses inside him and racing wide a round the bend. Jk made that worse by driving Winstanley along on the crown of the bend to try to maintain his position relative to the leader. Since he is running further he cannot maintain that position without making a forward effort (the error Joseph O'Brien has been lambasted about in the last week). Ok effort in the HS given that and stalling in the last 0.5f. His OR has declined from an opening OR84 to 76 for his 8TO run at HTON. A good example of a medium one lacking scope getting a high OR for running in the 'wrong' races early on (good maidens, conditions races, etc). Presumaby a 70-74 one getting down towards a usable OR. Looked willing and in ok form here but not big/good enough to overcome the wide running. [OCT 9] Glenbuck Lass not helped by thge Shape of the Race ended going 4Wd around the Bend as the field bunched up to the Slowish pace. But, looking a smaller one in the Group and not showing much relative Kick int he HS. Inclined to mark GLass down from the Breeze Video view now placed in Context of racing with others around her. |
