SUMMARY
Mixed Pace with slow run in BS to the Bend with nothing wanting to lead. One Moment the running freely in the lead on the bend pulled the field out to at least an Average pace.

Cursory Glance Varian's 2nd FTO in 2014 fom 4 goes and more evidence the season winners usually show it FTO. Fit on the day and Hugh says ok for 80 and better than her picture. Took a long time to run down the leader and not looking a straight mover in front. Say 80.

No Delusion a STO runner for Godolphin which should mean she would look like she is already going over-the-top of her peak readiness & performance. In line with the difference Appleby has appeared to show she still din't look fully fit and still mentally blunt in prelims and the race. A niggle that this isn't designed develop-with-racing but an idle filly who isn't wanting to work at being a racehorse. Solid 75+ maiden winner and interesting to see how she presents 3TO.

One Moment by a non-precocious sire out of a dam who has dropped 4 x 5f 2yo. Look at her picture and it looks a tad ludicrous. You want to ask the person taking it whether he had some odd feature on the camera turned on. Is it two pictures 'stitched' together badly? Looking at her picture you would be very doubtful that set-up would 'work'. But, a likeable effort in the race and moves well and uses her range. Got around the bend ok. A solid effort 2f out and still in the lead late on and overhauled as she finally tired a bit. Ought to be 75+ and stay further. Interesting to look at what Cowel said about OM in 214 = "very sharp & quickest of the fillies [he has], ..out late April.. moves well....burly strong and 2yo looking and doesn't look like a Notnowcato.." Which suggests she has lengthened a lot and getting more like the sire. A likeable effort in the race whatever.

Alpha Spirit a good late 60s Marker horse and running to her top level 3TO and in line with hos the Channon 2yos have come forward in the last 2 weeks. But, entirely different shape to OM and lacking scope and range. A solid effort 2F out but bigger fillies staying on past and away from her in the last 0.5f

Only Joking another 70ish and ran a little better than the final result. Taken back early on the bend to avoid racing wide but making a solid effort in the HS compaed to the first 4 home. Has a slightly rangy and galloping stride and still a bit mistimed behind because of still being up. The type Palmer seems capable of getting a win with (unlike some trainers).

Tommys Geal smaller but usable at her level. Say late 50s. Blown away in the 2f HS efforts.

Calypso Beat another lengthy one and a bit llighter made and underpowered. Looked a slow galloper in her stride on the odd occasions in the race she wasn't too clueless (or unwilling) to pick up and travel.

Looked small, too green and of little interest on VRev. HOTH suggests might be usable.

Having watched the run of Larch you turn to the Highclere website to see if they have offerred the owners some info on what went wrong. Hughes didn't bother with a WTRB report. The note on the Highclere website is close to word-for-word what the video had already show so here it is = "Larch ran as though something was amiss on her Kempton debut but having travelled extremely well throughout the race, she stopped quickly when Richard Hughes asked her for an effort.". No need for the 'extremely' in the quote but how about some explanation rather than just restating the visibly obvious. An unremarkable medium one and a bit shallow bodied and around 75.
