Picture for Carron Valley on the Prestige TB Website seems to be a smaller but usable one. Some power and ok balance. His Breeze Video shows him moving straight for the most part and looking balanced still. But just a middling action speed and not using much range and head held up a bit which perhaps led to a slower time and the cheap price (in context). Look better here if some of the 'laboured' action on his Breeze was being green and/or lack of development? Having learnt a bit more about the Qatari Religious 'funding' background (the 800lbs Gorilla in the room, to avoid the usual cliche) you wonder whether the wide ranging backing of multiple British trainers is a bit more sinister than just wanting everybody to 'like them'. Is it buying silence and influence. Add in activities like flying the 'Racing Post' Editorial Team by personal helicopter to the Qatari funded 'Champions Day' and not many people left to ask what the 'Gorilla' (spell it either way) is doing in the room. Have FIFA got around to properly investigating the background to Qatar being awarded the 2022 World Cup yet? Can a Qatari and one of his wives be sat either side of The Queen in the Ascot Royal Box, like Sheikh Mohammed & Princess Haya were, the next time she has a Royal Meeting winner? You would presume that is a 100/1 shot since Sheikh Mohammed writes thoughtful statements about the need for support activities like 'de-radicalisation' and less clear the Qataris are 'on' that message? Meanwhile, Hurricane Alert is a bald bit of buying-for-a-mate since Redvers bought the dam to race for Beckett and round we go again. Beckett in 214 suggesting he is like his dam (Raggle Taggle) and might have been early but for getting a 'setback' in April/May which meant 6 weeks off. How has he developed? In 214 Varian said about Marasim that he didn't know how good he was but looked a 2yo type and expected him to run by May/June. Prescott seems to have had a mostly '2yo ability' free juveniles this year which meant his 'odd' looking small early batch (which should have been the usable 2yos) was, wwith hindsight, an entirely correct predictor that he mostly had 3yo development projects which he would leave underdone and clueless at home to enable them to get low ORs to start at 3yo. His one 2yo winner this year (Celestial Path) won FTO and STO and has been declared for the Racing Post Trophy. In 214 he seemed to suggest Wedlock might have some 2yo potential so why is she starting so late? He also can be heard fighting the Sires-for-Going RACKET & bias by musing about how Wedlock had a 'Fast Ground action' despite being by Pivotal. [Update Oct 25th - Jk Morris on C4 MLine and said when Celestial Path first worked none of the other 2yos could work with him. Which adds to the feeling Prescott only had the one '2yo' from mid season. Plus, check how the enormous Poetic Licence develops]. |
