G as on decs. Inner HS in use. Strong to Stiff Westerly Wind = 3/4 Headwind from the Left. === Pre Race === Hills in 215 saying Elronaqis "not very big" but then saying he goes well and gives the impression the horse a trier who should show up a bit better than his size suggests. The Knave retained at the TGB sale as he had been as a yearling by the owner who bought him as a foal. Funny how you never hear that sort of story tweeted about or highlighted by the Racing Post, just the random successes. Breeze Video for The Knave showing a medium build & lenghtier one in gather and looking medium size at most. Does a poor breeze showing a slow action, also a bit ragged in places. Uses the same lengthy but slow stride throughout and not looking a 6f horse and a slower 7f+ type. In the wrong sale if people are there looking for how fast the breezer can do 2f. Say, 60 if he isn't just slow but hard to see him needing less than 7f and/or a slow test he can roll along in. Hills' quote from his website weekly blog = "Miss Pimpernel and Elronaq are working very nicely and are well up the two year old pecking order."' === Post Race === 0.92s faster than Div 1 of fillies races and carrying 5lbs more here. Looking an average Pace but the Pace upping soon after Halfway to give and extended later race effort and able to better the time. Front pair pulling clear with Eltezam comfortably on top of the smaller Elronaq at the finish. Candelisa loking interesting and a bigger one and flashy in the group. Last to past halfway and looking green but a solid effort into the group before fading and hanging left. Looked 80+ galloper. [June 12th =] Abernathy never put into the race and the jk's only concern was to try to get himt o settle and stop pulling. Jk did not manage that and having been hauled to the back in stages Abernathy still pulling at Halfway. Minor effort at 2f out but stalling and fading (plus hanging left) by 1f out in line with the pulling. Not FFH but head and neck set against the jk's pull throughout. Abernathy looking ok for 75+ physically and a bulky and strong type of the sire. Steps up to 7f STO and on a track where getting hauled to the back over 7f usually kills any chance. Settle better STO & ridden more prominently? Trainer's STO record fine in 2015 off mostly lesser or plain poor debuts. [June 16th = Roaring Forties running a bit too free inthe lead and having the field niggled along after halfway when he was 1-2L clear. Just a middling effort 2f out, and stalling and fading by inside 1f out. Just a solid medium one and lacking the size and scope of Abernathy who carried the 1st colours and has won over 7f since. Conversely, RF drops back to 5f 3TO and in a lesser Northen Maiden. Which looks the correct spot for him as a bit below Average Open Maiden level and with the speed for 5f. Presume he will assist with the pace and will he stay a 5f at RIPN? ] |
