=== Pre Race ===
Went back and looked at Cat Royale's Breeze Video. Looking taller than average and an ok size. But, although going straight down the rail looking a bit ponderous mover. Not using much reach in front and cadence perhaps a bit below aveagr. Watch his FTO out and runs alongside Sparky Jack & a bit shorter & lighter build. CR running in the best sport in the debut race, on the pace and wide out. Seems to reach a bit more but his final 2nd place seemed to owe more to staying on in the last 0.5f, Cobana Sand & Ocean Eleven both making better forward efforts to go by him but then repassed at CR continues on at his pace. CR one pace not enough to deal with Vallance Road picking up in the last 1f either. CR looking a stayer and vulnerable to others with more of a kick at 2f out.
Yearling Video for Jimenez making him look a solid size, deep through and ok strong. Fine for 80+. But, looking ponderous at the walk and short and straight behind. Seems to take a long time getting anywhere and you long to be able to say to the guy leading him to up the pace a bit then get him into a trot to see what his movement is like. Looking a square, block slab and not looking athletic on the video. A mixed story and how does that match his presentation here.
Interesting Breeze Video for Show Legend. Sir typical in the gathher. Smaller medium, balanced and neat set-up, looking active and moving ok. Breeze a bit wild overall and showing a fast action but a bit high in front and not fully organised. Veers left at one point in 1st 1f and drifts right in the second. The rider looking a touched worried and still holding him in the last 1f as if he doesn't want him to go any faster because he isn't that well balanced nor controlled. Still going forward at the finish. On the video a debut at 5f as a straight 5f sprinter would look fine. Bell trying to 'tame' him and make him a 6f type? With that background interesting to check out the latest work video on the Belle website. On May 23rd SL working in a trio with the fillies Modest (3rd FTO & stable expecting to drop her back to 5f) & Golden Hello (unp over 6f twice in solid maidens). The trio working line abreast uo the usual hill and the overall affect negative for SL. Despite being a colt in with fillies he looks the smallest, least build and suggesting a smaller one of his sire. Also has the rider most active and drops 2L behind the fillies by the finish. Would downgrade him on that and perhaps sub 70 size and not showing (not allowed to) the 5f zip type he looked in the Breeze.
=== Post Race ==
Shalaa winning meaning that the 3 x maidens from the NWBY Conds race (race 72) have all won in the last 2 days and all in better maidens looking at least 80+ and progressive. The winner of the NWBY event - Birchwood - has been bought by Godolphin and will stay with Fahey.
Strong race at the top on Profile and a 'good' result with the right horses clear in at the finish. Odd Race Shape with no peleton forming and the horses racing wide spread. Course looking narrower than typical for NMKT and stalls spread from Far rail to past centre track. field stayed spread out but from the Stands Rail (Dettori & Shalaa racing alone) to Cent-FrSd strip. See picture after 1.5f :-
Shalaa (Grey, Maroon Cap) far right in process of completing to going to the stands rail and 'disputing' the lead with Fang (Black with Yellow cap & face) towards centre track. Nisser in green (white face) to the left of Shalaa. Lord Kelvin (Pink & Green) out the back & green having never got the memo about this 'racehorse' caper. First 4 home racing furthest over to Stands' side from halfway (for the record).
