GF in early am from GGF on decs. Initial report from 06:30am and noted there will be 5mm of watering in the am before racing. Before the Watering the GStick given as 9.5. CoC Tellwright has regularly been blasted for his misleading statements and turning out ground nothing like the description in the last year+. Looking at the NRs, across all races at the meeting, there were 12 by 09:00am (before the watering) with 'Going' given as the reason for the NR. Kirkland, Kirkland, they don't trust you anymore. Grimly fascinating, NRs for 'Going' up to 22 by 10:00am. Give the man a chance, he hasn't got his bucket out yet. 26 NRs to 'Going' by 17:00. Stiff-Medium WSW Wind = 1/2 Headwind. Inner HS in use. Actual Race distance 6f & 218yds (i.e. 4 yds short of 7f). === Post Race === Yet again, the CoC (Kirkland Tellright) making the news sections. A total of 29 (26 for Going) of 57 declared horse were non-runners by late afternoon. A terrible outcome which needs some explaining and some proper presentation to the media. Instead, we got the usual quotes from Tellright blaming some combination of the Weather, Luck and everybody else. The complete lack of self Analysis presumably going along with a CoC who never improves and keeps doing the same things wrong. Which means he now has a reputation and a complete lack of Trust from his customers. A number of things do not add up. CoC said trainers had declared on Good ground when the report on the BHA website on Decs day said GGF. CoC then adding that he thought trainers had declared expecting rain and they had not had any. But, why do we NOT get similar wholesale NRs for 'lack of rain' at other tracks? The other examples of wholesale NRs are BECAUSE of too much rain. This is the middle of summer so why should trainers be avoiding watered GF going? Also, if 26 of the horses declared would NOT have been declared if the going was firmer than Good then you would have had a grand total of 31 declared runners on Thursday. Why were there 6 x NRs in a 2yo race when most of the field do NOT have any known going preferences? This all feels like not trusting HYDK to provide safe & consistent ground after late watering and the previous debacles and misinformation from the CoC removing any perceived truth & value in the CoC's reports. |
