SUMMARY
GSG in early am from G on Decs. 18mm rain on Sunday.

CoC quote = " Lower bend dolled out 5 yards from the 6 furlong marker to the winning post. Increasing race distances to races using that bend by 15 yards".

Strong to Stiff Westerly Wind = 3/4+ Headwind in the HS.

=== Pre Race ===

Previous race on Card with a just below average finishing sectional and 5 of the first 6 home in 6th or further back in a big field. Pace not looking strong here but hold up horses again previaling. Headwind seems a real factor on the day. Beaverbrook getting a reasonably soft time in the lead but only a brief effort before fading back, Strong Challenge perhaps running too freely & out of his depth. Add those 3 'excuses' to Birchwood getting hampered going for a gap from 2R and losing several lengths and having to get going again and that might explain the first 4 through halfway doing poorly. But, the amount of Closing and how early the leaders dropped back suggesting at least one other factor involved.

How did Palawanend up racing down the Stands Rail? By Design, or not?
