=== Pre Race ===

Another of these races called 'Maiden Auction' in the official title when they are actually plain maidens, at level weights for fillies here. Until recently (last 2-3 years?) races which limited qualifiers by how much they cost at the sales would always be Auctions events with different weights carried by price band. Another of those changes that 'just happen' and those who follow racing have to catch up after the fact. See full race conditions at the bottm of these note.

Opal Tiara another cheap one Channon has turned into a Partnership horse. In the old version of this race would have had a weight allowance in the race having cost only £1,800 to retain. Last Work Video interesting from April 10th. Working with the small 3yo filly El Che as the lead and the 3 x 2yo fillies in the Gallop behind her and they finish in in aline ahead of the lead. All looking smaller and OT just another similar size in the group. Shows a notable knee action and rider a lot more active than those on Unilit "(staying on 2nd at BATH FTO) & Jersey Breeze who seems to be Kassia's (2nd at ASCT FTO) mate and seen in a number of videos not keeping up with Kassia. Seems likely to be a small but usable one and the KA meaning a touch slow here? But usable at her level.

=== 1st View ===

Weak looking race with Copacobana looking in good condtion, perhaps a little to up-for-it but nothing different in a small field physically. Socialites Red typically ready FTO for a Dixon one and got a comfortable lead on the rail. Had the similar, but even smaller, Romantic Comedy outside her then Copacobana 2 wide. Usable pace and SRed able to see off RT and Copacobana not able to sustain a challenge. 1st & 3rd home making ground wider in the HS and bigger types amongst the rabbits.

Opal Tiara held while in the widest stalls and a slower break. Made a bit of ground on the bend but then having to switch widest in the HS. Then, with the unedifying rumble between rabbits taking a long time to play out, OT galloped past them widest and putting some distance into them. Similar height but strongest & widest body. But, most visibly, using her range in front like a galloper and with a very pronounced (ugly) knee action. Probably only putting 50ish runner-up away here but her ugly action seems to work for her at this level and the range improving her. Interesting to look back at that April 10th Gallop Video with this race to compare it against.

=== Post VRev ===

One of those cherry pickable examples where you could pick the winner from which Jks head was highest when all the horses were in the stalls. ATR use a head-on shot for the stalls break here (terrible idea) and look at the Jks and Opal Tiara's the highest with Copacobana (taller IC but slightly narrow as well) next highest.

Weak race and Opal Tiara outclassing a 50s field and at least 1 size bigger and bulkier than anything else and make that 2 sizes for the ready rabbits in the field. Slow time but OT showing a good attitude and a clear win despite a slightly messy path through the race from a wide draw. High 60s probably and the clear win here as much due to the lack of ability of the the others. See how that pans out.

Socialites Red small and some sort of lower 50s and more interesting as an indicator of trainer MO. Dixon runners with any ability seem to win/place FTO but he has a mixed record (being a touch kind) with his development of those types. This his 3rd debut of the season and his second 2nd - both at WTON the previous one at 11/1. The Market seeming to know little of the readiness of his 2yos so always of some interest to check his runners on debut. The previous FTO seond place - Krystallite ran to free and almost pulled up STO. SRed running to her best here and will need to find a weak race to win even if she maintains her form level for Dixon. She would have been a 14/1 debut win without OT lurking in stall 9.

Trainer Portman had his first two debuts on 2015 on the day, both fillies and both a lot shorter in the Market than the Profile suggested. Pinch A Kiss drifting here as if some sort of minor hype turned to a more realistic view close to the race. PAK above medium size and build in the field and Portman has shown in the past he can get horses very, that's overly at times, fit for debut. Green at the start and a slow to get goign and last. The Jk very (unusually) active for a FTO 2yo and PAK eventually getting up to 2R 2 eide on the bend. Produced less than expected in the HS and just staying on. Perhaps 56+

Copacobana a bit leggy and taller in the field but shorter body length unmatched and just average bulk in the group. In good condition and a perhaps a bit too much OT. Ended up running 2 wide in the Leading Line so some minor excuses but just a low level effort in the HS although that got her to 2nd before OT appeared and she faded. Confirmed the view of the placed horses in the EDIN maiden she was in FTO as suspect. Perhaps 60ish.

Allsingingndancing another cheap buy for Moore who seemed to have a bit more bulk than average int he field. The greenest in the field and taking time to get going and hanging. Seemed to do more than just stay on past tired rabbits in the HS to get to 5th. Seemed ok promise but in a poor quality race. Check if 60+.

Romantic Comedy probably the smallest in a small field and effectively overpowered by rabbits in the HS. Oh, dear. Balqees also small and some excuse running wide on the bend. But, the Jk was overaly active throughout the race as if Balqees would pack-it-in at any moment and no interest. Highway Dream small & with a green A7 riding. 50ish.

Much more interest in Pivotal Dream who has to be followed 3TO given the trainer's MO. A bit more bulk in this field and showing the typically competitive attitude of a Brisbourne usable one. But, that showed up as running too free here and she and the Jk never got on the same page with PD being hauled back at times but her freeness meaning he could never drop her in. Being hauled back losing ground to a usable pace. Would like to have seen a bit more in the HS but she must be going to be fixed and peak 3TO and be a value price in a weak race.
