SUMMARY

Review Notes contributed by @hughonthehill (Twitter handle) =====

==== Note :- The ratings number at the end of each review summary is an estimate of what OR they might reach rather than a reflection of how they ran on the day. See the Paddock Review Rating Section on this website for reference.

The Last Lion review – Not the greatest bunch and it seemed that The Last Lion should have too much for mostly small and ready sprinters even from his draw. He is not that much bigger but has all the right things in all the right places.

The Last Lion – Mid to lower medium at best but strong throughout and a balanced physique. Would not be surprised to see him over rated after this, hope he is not my ‘Buratino’ for this season. 90

Smokey Lane – Evans did his usual trick of smuggling this one in at the last minute, one circuit around the paddock and gone so not much opportunity to assess. Very fit, not as neatly made as TLL but maybe close to same stature. My pre-race concerns about having Kelly up rather than Kirby seem well founded as he made such a meal of pulling SL off the fence that he swerved wide out into the centre and took a long time to get organised before running on well at the end. Very much doubt that he could have beaten him and was perhaps flattered by TLL easing up in the last 50yds. 86

Just An Idea – No picture, neat and ready top end of small with a pronounced sprinters behind. 79

Pretty Vacant – Bottom of medium, strongly made, close coupled, lack of length in mid section. Broken by too fast an early pace. 78

El Torito – Still looking a bit green on 4th run, short of quality although an acceptable frame if as noted on debut a bit clumsily made. 74

Await The Storm – Ordinary model, perhaps over-rated marginally on debut 73

Stormy Clouds – Just a neat and ready one that the Hannons whizzed up early to grab a couple of wins. On the small side and well done to him winning a Cl 3 at Salisbury beating Fastnet Spin who I had rated 65. Nurseries for this one and a long wait to get to a winning mark although his tryers attitude will help. Disputed early pace with Pretty Vacant which did for him here. 75
