Mehmas review – Just about the right result although I think that Frankie Dettori on Mehmas made the difference and that Ryan Moore on Intelligence Cross was possibly guilty of over-confidence. They are very similar stamps of horses and had they both raced as Mehmas did just off the pace I would not like to predict which would have won.

Mehmas – just below mid medium and looked a real 2yo. Superbly fit and in great condition. No change at 94.

Intelligence Cross – Very similar size and shape to Mehmas, similarly fit 94

Broken Stones – Around the same height as Mehmas perhaps slightly taller but much heavier set. Looking very fit but just a tad less athletic than the first two, not held up exaggeratedly by Spencer so would not expect him to reverse positions. 89

Silver Line – The least impressive physically, barely into the medium range and lightly made by comparison with the first three. Struggling to rate him as highly as he appears to deserve on performance. 85-87

Medici Banchiere – Mid medium, and quite strongly made but lacking the athletic look/scope of Mehmas. Smaller chest cavity. 80

Barrington – Big strong lad and looking in great nick. Too fresh and pulled hard for early part of race. Maybe better over further. 86

Bohemian Flame – over-rated on my scale before this and did not quite match up in physique/potential to the ones who finished in front of him. Still a nice type. 82

Yalta – The others are catching up with him in terms of size, went too hard early with Barrington and paid the price. Good size but as noticed on debut perhaps not quite the athleticism/flexibility to move as well as the principals. 84

Ardad – I had my doubts about the Windsor Castle and think that draw advantage played an even bigger part than I thought in that result. Found out here by better made individuals. Close coupled, good girth depth in a lower medium package. Just something about his make up that looks to limit his potential. 80
