Arborist review – Drowne and Kelly lived up to their billing leaving the wiser heads of Dane O’Neill and Pat Dobbs to pick up the pieces.

Arborist – Just about shaded the rest for tone and fitness. Top end of medium as were a few and stayed on well in the soft ground. 76

Dance Teacher – Tall narrow filly. Matched the winner for size and might have won had she not been stuck on the outer and had some previous experience. 79

Star Maker – Not as small as I had thought but a bit lighter built and less depth than the first two. 69

Never Surrender – looked a lot fitter than on debut but not a big one as described. This is the Father Ted effect where they look big because one is so close. In effect tall but not that solidly made and distinctly narrow. Probably asked to do a little bit more than was necessary early on going after the pace setting and wild In The Spotlight. Then again if you put Drowne up on a 2yo you have no-one to blame but yourself. Will do better 74

In the Spotlight – Hard to know what to make of this. Really stupid and difficult in the preliminaries, so much so that it is hard to believe a colt behaving like this is from a stable where one presumes a lot of the training came from the Hannons. A bit like Never Surrender in that he is lighter than thought when seen at Newbury. Has enough about him to think he is a potential nursery winner but will need to be a lot calmer. Given 82 on debut which now looks high. 75

Kozier – Tiny compared to the rest of this field, lightly made but not a bad looker with an athletic shape. Maybe needs at least a mile. Trundled through from the back. 70

Henry Did It – Lower medium plain type. Looked way off fit. Will presumably turn up in a nursery or seller in due course. 63

Auric Goldfinger – Strongly made with a deep chest, bit awkwardly put together. Low slung and chunky. Poor run all things considered. 70

License To Thrill – Some size and scope. Repeatedly took the eye as in good condition if a bit too much of it. Keep an eye out for him 3 or 4to in a Kempton or Lingfield nursery. 67
