Camargue review

Guilty of pre-judging this and not giving the Camargue experience enough weight. My paddock notes say ‘filled out’ which was my impression but insufficient attention paid to her condition.

Camargue – Had filled out from her debut run when seen at Newmarket and looked hard fit and in good condition. Still barely into the medium category 83

Romantic View – Good to see Charlie Appleby’s runners calm and professional in the paddock and the race. The last two seasons have seen a lot of this type under-perform due to being too fizzy. RV a biggish strong girl. Deep girth and plenty of condition, I did not think she was fit enough to run in the way she did and so should possibly be marked up 84

Tropical Rock – proper big girl, strongly made and looked fit enough to give her best. Missed the break (note to watch and see if this is a feature of Fran Berry with 2yos) closed up well and still running on at the death. Only appeared to be shown the stick. Should be a contender up to group level. 90

Amlak – Compact filly only top end of small but solidly made. Another who was only shown the whip and ran on ok but size must be a concern. 77

Reeh – Lengthier model, strongly made and athletic, not looking to be fully tuned, very keen early. Improve 79

Jule In The Crown – Strongly made tall filly, very much a Channon shape. Coat a bit dull and full summer sheen not yet through. Hard to decide if she was fully fit but strong support suggests the stable thought so. Pulled away her chance in the first two furlongs, plugging on well at the end. 82

Her Terms – Very neatly made small filly. Fit and ready seemed to travel ok but then started pulling. Probably ability beyond what her stature suggests. Size limited yet niggle that she is better than 80 in the short term. 77

Kodiac Moment – Similar size to Amlak, just below medium, not fit enough to show much here. Ok 75

Royal Melody – Small, compact 68

The Night Is Ours – Looked fit, small light framed. Win something weak on the aw? 65
