Medieval review – these looked a fairly decent bunch with some decent sized ones amongst them. A lot of coltiness and calling going on. The only ones who looked really ready were Medieval, Our Boy and Diable D’Or. The Newbury pre parade allows considerable proximity and it is difficult not to see all of them as bigger.

Medieval – hard to imagine a picture that could do him less justice. Lower end of big and fit enough for ribs to be showing. Calling and colty in the Cole style but not getting too worked up. In the picture he looks more close coupled and rounded in the buttock than he presented. 85

Spiritous - A full size or more smaller than Medieval, mid to lower medium but chunky, picture suggests a a bit of falling away at the back. Looked to be carrying a lot of condition and I was surprised to see him as competitive as he was, particularly as he pulled early. 83

Our Boy – Big for an Evans horse. Unsold at 58k and not really that good to look at but ready to give his best. Probably a little taller than Spiritous but much lighter build. Fully tuned but lacking the scope. Better over further? 77

Diable D’Or – Lower end of medium, everything in the right place and coat gleaming for a grey. Looks a good buy for £16k. Sire has only had 6 debut wins since 2005 and only 2 of those before June so not surprising to see him run well but not win. Fresh early on but plugged on.78

Wahash – Big strong grey. Only three parts fit and colty. Improve nto 83

Waqaas – Heavily built substantial colt. Typical Charlie Hills prep, still chubby but mentally mature, strongly made and another who will improve a lot. 88

Challow – Not quite fit, green and calling, medium 75

Brise De Mer – Calling, green, ordinary looking lightish colt. 72

War Of Succession – Looked very fit, too tall and leggy to be able to run efficiently. Big lad should win when he fills out his frame. 79
