Slow Time caused by a Slow Pace. Magical Forest getting a soft lead on the rail with Royal Melody outside her. Stacking the field on the bend and two lines of 3 behind the leading pair with some jks part stood up hlding fillies. Ventura Blues caught 2 wide in 2R from a wide draw (Dobbs avoiding the Kingscote illness of pressing forward and hang the expense). Front 3 pulling away and likeable attitude from Ventura Blues and looking the *)+ type as on FTO PRev. Magical Forest taller but a bit narrower. Solid 75+. Trainer Prescott getting going early and, to recap, he has an unusual but very well entrenched MO with 2yos. The first batch will include the usable 2yos and most will win (except in those years when he has very little by way of competitive 2yos). The (very) good ones can win FTO but most need a FTO tune-up. His later batches of 2yos are typically devoid of 2yo talent and there will be a tail of 3yo Handicap set-ups. Those set-ups will often like ok big types but will be clueless and unfit as 2yos in 2-3 runs to get an OR50s handicap mark to start as 3yos. Sir Henry used to froth a little whilst spitting out the word Cheating when (group) pondering such tactics, when interviewed. In that context a very likeable FTO effort by Boost who has the pedigree to be a 2yo and wouldn't b running now for the connections unless they knew she was a bit better than an Open Maiden type. Boost trapped on the rail in the HS until the cutaway then visibly green and learning-as-she-went as making places. Strong finish. Medium with length and range and ok build. Will try listed level and may well run in the Queen Mary. Sweet Sienna maybe just smaller medium and check PRev. But, an better than the result reads and still pulling and travelling well towards the last 2f behind VBlues (the pair having been 2 wide on the bend). Seemed to be a mix of unbalanced and hanging left in centre track and possibly not fading and just inexperienced at that pace. Check STO. |
