Pre-race Summary

MAY 9th SUMMING UP
  • Bloodstocktv has the best form and runs for a reliable trainer whose 2yos normally show around 5lb improvement from a prominent debut. He sets a good standard and it will need notable improvement for any of the others to better that standard.
  • Silver Rocket has shown poor to moderate form in two races within 7 days at Windsor. She was not fit enough to compete on her debut and presumably still lacked fitness STO. She has been given a break before this run. On the positive side she looked capable of developing to be competitive in this type of race in paddock review. She also runs for a trainer who has reverted to developing his 2yos with racing and has won with his only two runners at the course in 2003-4. There are clearly a number of "ifs" but off bottom weight in a moderate race she has an acceptable profile to improve to be competitive.
  • Little Elver & Beautiful South represent the same trainer and their development over their 3 runs has been very similar. Both were too inexperienced and/or unfit to show up at all in their first two races and got behind early. After a short break they reappeared on consecutive days in better races than this one and had metamorphosed into attacking pace pressers. Both kept prominent until nearly the final furlong before solid fades. Little Elver has shown better form but Beautiful South may be able to do better on this easier track.
  • None of the others appear to have a profile which hints that they could develop to get to Bloodstocktv's standard. The newcomer  Capital Lass runs for a trainer who does not target 2yo racing but seems to have a reasonable group in 2005 and has got wins with his two 2yo runners so far. Both of these have shown solid improvement from debut and she would have to be above her trainer's normal debut readiness to be involved in the finish.
  • RACE QUALITY:
  • The auction race run at this time in 2004 was a Class E race and better quality. The race has been dropped to Class 7 and the lower quality is indicated by the fact that the topweight cost only 5,000 guineas at the sales.
  • PADDOCK & SALES REVIEWS:
  • Beautiful South rated 71 as an 'at best' for early season.
  • Silver Rocket (Windsor) rated 62.
  • Little Elver rated 60.
  • Capital Lass rated 56.
  • Sometimes Lucky  (Leicester x 2) rated 54.
