JUNE 1st SUMMING UP
|
A moderate race on profile and an open one if Multiple fails to
come up to expectations. She has looked to lack pace in her three runs
to date but has always been plugging on at the finish. If she can keep
reasonably close on the downhill section you would expect her to be plugging
on the uphill finish here (in an unexciting manner).
She would be vulnerable to a bigger runner with more natural pace but the
two who have already run plus Chase The Fox do not look to fit into
that category. Kung Hei is notably small and has been beaten by
slightly bigger 2yos on all three runs and has little physical scope to
develop in his 8 week break.
Noble Nova was inexperienced on firm ground over 6f on debut and
got well behind before making some late progress. An outsider here over
6f last week she pressed the pace for 4f and led briefly before notably
fading. That race saw the first four places filled by runners who had been
off the pace. She drops back to 5.3f and presmably is likely to be prominent
again.
The unknown quantity is Quote Unquote who is the third
2yo runner of the season for his trainer. He is related to two useful+
2yos and the best of those won on debut for him. However, this one cost
only 5k guineas while the previous one cost 170k and finished third on
debut. This isn't a strong race but he does not have the profile to be
good enough to win it on his first run.
