2Difficult race to give a single 'Pace' figure for. Despite a small field the race featured an early pace Duel for position. This took 3F to resolve and the turn to the bend broke up the duelling pair of Aattash & Llandovery as the latter hung left. This allowed Aattash's Jockey to finally ease up. He had pressed on from the break and initially there were four in a line with Capt Cool, Llandovery & Cherry Bee outside him. CBee held back out of this line early & CaptC held out after a furlong and perhaps also struggling to go the forcing pace. Aattash's Jk look across at the driven Llandovery after 1F and responded and this pair pressed on together until the bend intervened. This nonsense meant that Flaming Miracle missing the break was less of a problem & perhaps none. He ran here to take advantage of his OR mark before it goes up. Trainer said he would not normally run them back this quickly. After the slow break the Jk held him back to allow the pacemakers to steam off. Made ground back to them over a long period and got to a challenging position comfortably. Seem to stall late on. Aattash outpaced by efforts 2F out but never really fade and seem to stay this 8F well. See how he goes when not taken on early. Llandovery fade after the strong early effort made. Jairzinho won over 6F but from poor rivals. Up in trip & held up last 2 runs he appears a relentless galloper lacking pace to respond to any horse nippier with an ability to make any forward effort. |
