Cooler, Windier and Rain on the Day after a Fine & Dry Week. Stiff- Westerly Wind = Half Headwind from the right BS and Half Tailwind from the left in the HS. Krystallite a good size in the field if a touch narrow. Went off hard in the lead on the rail and only the medium Delizia able to challenge in the HS. Krystallite trainer typical in that the odd 2yo he has that can win shows it FTO. Can this one progress from FTO? Other 3 from major Northern stables all making their own problems and ok promise from 3rd/4th home. Dressed In Fur veering around soon out of the stalls and UR before 0.5f gone. Spencer, predictably, got left behind on Company Asset drawn against the rail and she ended up closing wide out in the HS. Zahrat Narjis looking green and niggled along in the BS and also running wide in the HS to be closing with CA. Check rating level with Manhattan Skyline not far back but, unless her stable picture hiding her lack of size, she looked usable on that. Go On Gal as advertised garbage. ==== Post Full VRev ==== A better quality edition of the race which can often be very poor. The 2014 edition saw a useful filly streak clear from a lot of rabbits and the 2012 version a solid 70+ filly beat rabbits. Both of those winners trained by David Evans who has run just one, family owned, poor filly so far this year and a very slow start for him. On Profile this edition looked better with Fahey, MaJo, Kevin Ryan & Burke having reps and that possible quality then supported by Krystallite being at the upper end of her widespread owner bred profile. Enough pace to past halfway then Kystallite upped the pace before 2f out still ont he bend. That outpaced the two small ones and ensured that only Delizia was going to be close enough to challenge. Looking at the shape of the result the first 4 home look up to winning Fillies' maidens early-mid without any looking better class on what they showed here although there might have been some 'masking'. Delizia solidly built but perhaps just smaller medium frame. Ready type and a willing and professional attitude. Took time to get back to Krystallite after that one upped the pace but a good effort in the HS to work hard to win. Perhaps lacking scope and a nursery type in full term but prob competitive in average Fils Nov/Conds earlier. Trainer Dixon has a below average record with 2yos and the 3 winners he has managed previously have included 2 x debut winners. The 4 x 2yos who have finished 2nd/3rd on debut in his career so far have all failed to win at 2yo. Krystallite the biggest frame in the field and an ok mover and a bit too free here. Touch weaker front but ok power behind. Was entered for the Brocklesby where Dixon ran a colt. Solidly 70+ amd should be able to win an Open Maiden but the niggle over the Dixon record of progressing 2yos. Spencer riding Company Asset and gave a typically mixed performance where 'everyone' (pros/cons) could find something to support their view. Drawn next to the rail and allowed CA to flop out of the stalls which meant she got shuffled back as Bond Bombshell cut over to the rail. Spencer made a WTRB to try to make out none of it was his fault. But, if he had organised CA in the stalls and got her out better ther problem wouldn't have arisen. Inability to see problems before time a regular with Frank. He then took too long to organise and get after CA. But, the horse saved him to some extent by travelling well around the bend and making a solid effort in the HS. Looking a zippy if perhaps just a solid medium and IP length one. Looks a classic early debut filly for Ryan that peaks STO and up to 75 but check scope. You could not expect Fahey to be running Zahrat Narjis for an owner like Jaber Ab unless she was either 80+ or very small. Picture on website made her look a solid build if young mentally. ZN seemed the same here with a young and sloppy attitude. The direct opposite of Delizia for example. SLow start needing to be driven to get going and the Jk resorting to Whip Slaps on the neck at various points to try to get her to wake up. Hung right into the HS which allowed CA to undercut and overtake her. Solid effort chasing CA down running widest in context. Has the bulk to be 80+ and check attitude STO to see if she has snapped together into a racehorse. Manhattan Skyline a cheap buy but the picture on the Moore website made her look a usable type of the sire. Ok size in this group and ran well by Moore standards FTO if lacking some pace when the pace upped after Halfway. Inclined to think she is usable 60s at least and should be one of his winners. Useful to have the other two finishers in the race because they were visibly small ones compared to the first 5 home and notably outpaced when Krystallite upped the Pace on the bend to the HS. Bond Bombshell the better of the pair and some positives despite being small. Ok nous and some pace and a trier. But, seems more wondering about usable lower 50s if she stays 5f. Go On Gal weaker and less neatly made than BB and garbage. Karl Burke's stable had its best season in 2014 with his name back on the licence and the list of 2yos in training on his website suggest he has a larger string in 2015 (before the Breeze sales are run where he bought notable winners in 2014). Throughout his career, name on the licence or not, his stable had typically take time to build into the season and the majority of 2yos winners came in batches from late May onward. In 2014 he had one win on April 16th with a limited & disposable filly and a FTO win by an 80+ on May 3rd. Then nothing until a June 12th then the batches started in July. He has already entered 5 x 2yos in 2015 and a question over whether he has changed his approach or not? If he hasn't then the early runners can probably be discounted on debut unless real useful and even the usable ones may take time to win. Or has something changed? Dressed In Fur at 9/1 here but how much of that just 'Market Respect' rather than knowledge? DIF added nothing to our knowledge of the 2015 approach by bucking soon after the start then veering left to ensure she got rid og the Jk. |
